A lesson learned by the Scorpion in exile helps teach a Crab what loyalty means.
A young Soshi courtier is married into the Matsu family and has a less than pleasant new life with his domineering and abusive wife. When she departs for a typical summer skirmish with the Unicorn, the now Matsu Todo is excited for the reprieve and plans to use this as an opportunity get a well needed break from the stress of his marriage. However, as time goes on it becomes apparent his wife has gone missing in action, and dreading the rule of a Lion household even more, he sets out with a Kaeru yojimbo in her employ to find out what exactly happened. However a simple search for remains leads the pair down a much larger rabbit hole than anyone could ever have expected, and the domestic strife of a single samurai couple soon becomes a secondary concern.
A series of letters between Moshi Shimiko, a navigator in the Mantis fleet, and her young husband, Moshi Yasude, who she left behind in Broken Wave City in Rokugan proper when the Mantis-Crane War in the Colonies results in her departure shortly after their marriage.

The peaceful and spiritually minded Tribe of Seppun has dwelt upon their eponymous hill for as long as memory holds. Unknown to them, events far above in Tengoku will soon come to pass that will reshape they and their often dangerous neighbors into the first samurai and lead to the foundation of the Empire.
As these tumultuous and oft recounted events come to pass, a young scholar vanishes from his home in the midst of the chaos. He will one day come to bring Rokugan, and reality itself to his knees. This is his wife's story, of how she followed him to the Lying Darkness. As the old world dies in the birth pangs of a new Empire, a tragedy unfolds.
