    Summary

Yu Ziyuan grunted loudly in pain as she gave birth to her second child. The pregnancy had been long and painful, but now her baby was finally here. She waited for the cries of her baby as she gave the last push. However, even after the baby was born, it did not cry.

"What's wrong?" she asked the nursemaids, who were scurrying around her.

"Madam Yu, congratulations. You have given birth to a baby boy. Unfortunately, the baby is both blind and deaf."

She could not believe her ears.

"Then get rid of him. He'll be a burden to this family if we keep him. It would be a waste of supplies and money to tend to him," Jiang Fengmian said from the doorway. He had heard everything.

Yu Ziyuan ultimately agreed. She took her son from the head healer and held him loosely for a moment, watching him with disappointed eyes, before handing him over to the nursemaid ordered to kill him. Said nursemaid doesn't actually kill him.

What happens when, 15 years later, a strange boy accompanied by a small girl, ends up saving a certain group from the waterborne abyss in Caiyi town and is taken back to Cloud Recesses afterwards?

But they died horribly because of greed and betrayal, their souls shattered to never be reincarnated again. However, Fate could not allow it because without them, all hell could be emptied out into the world of the living within a thousand years. Fate turned time back twenty-three years. The problem was, nobody has had a chance to drink the soup of forgetfulness.
So, when the memories in the form of nightmares became unbearable, Fate led little Lan Zhan and Wei Ying to Wen KeXing and Zhou ZiShu.

    Summary

He pulls Mianmian into his office towards the end of the day.

“Uh...sir, I have an appointment this evening.”

“This won’t take long.” Jiang Cheng beckons her over to his desk, swiveling his monitor to face her. “Look.”

Mianmian squints at the screen, right where her boss is pointing. It takes her a minute to notice what’s wrong and then she recoils.

“That can’t be right,” she says. “It’s a server glitch.”

Jiang Cheng shakes his head, expression grim. “It’s not. I checked. Pulled the code and everything. The header is real, it really got sent on that date, and it’s probably in your email.”

She unlocks her phone and pulls up the mail app. She starts scrolling...and scrolling...and scrolling…

“It’s okay, Ms. Luo,” her boss says. “You have an appointment this evening. Don’t spend any time on this right now.”

Mianmian scowls, an unconsciously perfect imitation of Jiang Cheng. “Fine. But I will find it. And then we will figure out what it means.”

    Summary

    Summary

A blood curdling screech, followed by whimper and then incoherent screaming, echoed in the same covered walkway as they turned the corner. Out on the quad, a young man in slacks and an oversized jumper fled from something, arms whirling. Jiang Cheng stared.

“Oh, isn’t it romantic?” Siobhan sighed, clasping her hands in front of her chest.

“What.” Jiang Cheng looked askance at the young woman, then back at the quickly retreating figure of the student (at least, he assumed it was a student).

“He got his badger!” she chirped.

    Summary

Wei Wuxian had once gotten a concussion, back before his golden core developed. Everything he looked at had a bright-dark edge, every footfall felt like it was rolling out from under him. His body was a capsizing boat, a bowl of water tipping over, about to spill.

This feeling now, over ten years later, isn’t quite like a concussion, but it’s more like that than anything else he can think of.

Wei Wuxian expected to have a fun nighthunt for the first time in a while, but was instead thwarted by some "maybe even handsomer than him" cultivator. What a shame, and what a certainly false statement!

Turns out the shame was of a rather different caliber, and it hit him over the head with the force of a blunt sabre.
But how was he supposed to know he would meet Lan Wangji in this small town?! Talk about first re-impressions!

    Summary

Jiang Cheng looked around but he didn’t see anyone in the scrubby clearing around the well or in the forested area to either side of the road. He turned as some brush began rustling behind him. From the scrub, a large orange tabby emerged, forelegs first. The cat was nearly dog-sized, though it seemed bigger as it stretched, legs and torso one long line as the tail and back arched.

The cat proceeded to sit neatly, with tail wrapped around its paws. It nodded at Jiang Cheng, watching him with malachite green eyes. Then yawned, long pink tongue unfurling like a ribbon, before snapping its jaws shut and regarding him politely.

It was huge, for a stray cat. But it was just a stray cat. One tail. No glowing. No flames dancing on air around its head, no sigil inscribed in its forehead. It was just a big, orange cat sitting in the grass.

“Jiang Cheng!” Wei Wuxian exclaimed, jolting as if to launch himself at Jiang Cheng again. But he caught himself and just smiled. “You can ring your bell again!”

“It’s lovely, isn’t it?” Lan Xichen asked, smiling so brightly his eyes crinkled. “The most amazing sound.”

“It’s all right,” Nie Mingjue said, rolling his eyes the way he did any time anything musical came up.

“Wait a minute! You two can hear Jiang Cheng’s bell?” Wei Wuxian stared at the two men. He gave Jiang Cheng an uncertain look, then turned to Lan Wangji. “Lan Zhan, can you hear it?”

    “No,” the stone-faced man replied.

Wei Wuxian looked at the two Wens. Wen Qing shook her head. He turned back to Jiang Cheng with wide eyes. “Jiang Cheng, they can hear your bell.”

    Summary

Jiang Cheng sat on the floor, his cushion placed squarely in a patch of sunlight. He was as greedy for warmth as any cat, and bowed the erhu’s strings in an idle fashion. The music was slow but not sad, more contemplative. Jiang Cheng still wore only his sleeping robe but it had come loose. The fabric had slipped down his shoulder, revealing his collarbones and the curve of his chest. Sunlight gilded his tanned skin with a golden glow, even giving the pale, rigid scar tissue a milky luminance.

“Xichen?” Jiang Cheng frowned slightly, looking up, and made as if to set the erhu aside. “Are you okay?”

Lan Xichen dumped his packages on the bed and went immediately to Jiang Cheng. He plucking Jiang Cheng off the cushion, sat down there himself, and put the startled man down in the nest made by his crossed legs.

As if he’d just plucked up a kitten and put it in his lap for an extended session of cuddling.
