The death thing didn't take. You can't keep a good spy (or a better shaman) down. She's headed back to Agency HQ on HIS most expensive horse. So there.
Inside, though, Nerguitani (No Name Girl) feels unsettlingly off-balance... and not just because she's so shockingly new to horseback riding. Surely not shaman's madness already? And if she's not herself, then who is she? Someone who'd face 272 kinds of Hell sooner than be pimped out to a career-length series of highly-placed psychos, apparently.
If only she knew what fond friends she'd made during her short stay in the capital. Or that Great Khan Ogedei has a plan she'd like much better. Or that Ogedei's reckless brother Chagatai has his own --- well --- more of an impulse than a plan, really.

Ogedei (son of Genghis) Khan has a problem. Somewhere out in where-the-eff-is-Anatolia, his protégé Baiju Noyan has dropped off the map and taken his troops with him. Incoming reports have been increasingly sparse, inarticulate, and disturbing. Has the famously fierce Noyan gone native? Rogue? Insane? All of the above?
According to the royal diviners, rookie intelligence agent Nerguitani ("No Name Girl") is the best candidate for the mission. Sungurtekin (the Khan's Anatolian spymaster and a native of the Kayis tribal lands where the Noyan was last sighted) privately thinks the diviners have been drinking more spirits than they've been consulting.
Can a nice girl from the home steppes (with multiple options on not-so-nice) survive the dangerous company of Baiju Noyan and evade the wrath of his sworn nemesis Ertugrul Ghazi? Can she salvage the Khan's Western frontier before it becomes an epic Mongolian cluster... of embarrassments?Series

History’s Imperial Mongol commander Baiju (aka Bayçu) Noyan was back-drafted into service as the villain of Resurrection: Ertugrul Season 2. Played brilliantly by actor Barış Bağcı (we’re not worthy!), the Noyan (which was his title, not his name) became such a fan favorite that there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth when he was apparently killed by Ertugrul (the least-ambiguous hero since 1940's Superman).
Historians (whom, trust me, you don’t want to cross) remonstrated that the historical Baiju Noyan won battles for decades after the 1230’s(ish)* setting of Season 2 and nothing suggests that he did so as a zombie or a vampire. Rather, Baiju ostensibly survived until at least 1260, when (according to a single account by Rashid al-Din written almost a century later) he was executed by his insecure new boss Hulegu, the first Ilkhan.
Hulegu, despite his descent from Genghis Khan, seems like rather small change compared to Ertugrul and some of Baiju's other would-be exterminators. Did Baiju really die in 1260? And if not --- if he ding-dong-ditched Death once again --- why is there no further word of him?

Though hard pressed and nearly defeated several times, Ariq Böke managed to turn the war around in his favor by returning to the tactics of his grandfather, Genghis Khan, and conducting a guerrilla war in the mountains and river valleys of northern Mongolia until at last he was able to capture his rival claimant to the title of Khan, Kublai Khan, in a surprise lightning raid, and end the civil war in his favor.
Now, however, he is left with a broken, war-torn, and divided empire, few allies, and too many enemies for comfort. Uniting and ruling this vast empire, it seems, might be harder than expected.
