7 years ago a fire left Izuku Midoriya homeless, orphaned, and traumatized. Before the fire he had wanted to be a hero more than anything but desperate times made survival more important than morality. To get by, he started selling his hero notes and analysis. The information trade, while dangerous, is highly profitable. His fanboy tendencies combined with his eye for detail and analysis finally paid off and he made a name for himself as the information broker, Data.
At 17, he’s the best in the business and has villains coming to him to make deals. His life, while not honest, is stable and in his line of work you can’t ask for more than that. Then he takes a job that ends up making his life a lot less stable. His new employer, the League of Villains, are weird and he's already not a people person but they pay him enough for him to stay.
He’s believed there is no way out for years and no one has ever tried to change that mindset. It's not his fault he's like this, he was just trying to survive, but now he's stuck in this path and he can't see a way out. It's a truth he's accepted.
So why, then, are the people at UA, the very people who should hate him, so determined to act like he’s worth saving?
