Logically he knows that he's been hit by a Quirk (there was a man, one with green eyes like his and just as monstrous-), but all he can think about is the itch of his skin and the weight of his tongue. The burning pressure of the small object in his rucksack has his scars solar-flaring, the flickering shadows in the back of his mind reaching and leaping and twisting, and he doesn't know how to resist the urge any more.So he doesn't.
It starts small. (Doesn't everything? At first it was only mean words and too-hot breath, but now Izuku cannot show his back or sides or-) Izuku, quite simply, feels impulsive. He lets himself not smile at Kacchan that morning; he dares to take Quirk notes during homeroom; he goes so far as to disappear during lunchtime.
He puts the lighter in his pocket.

(Izuku was raised aflame, and he never had a hope of understanding why, not truly, but that only made his desire to understand all the stronger.
