Summary
Post-Shadows of War canon divergence.
With Celebrimbor trapped with Sauron, Eltariel gone, and Mordor once again thrown back into total darkness, Talion sits at the helm of Minas Morgul, at war with himself, determined to finish what he started. Word travels fast in Mordor, so when Talion receives word of the discovery of the One Ring he knows what he must do. That Halfling better be worth all this trouble, or so help him Isildur's heir and company will regret his aid.
Dark! Talion joins what's left of the Fellowship for a time before his gaze turns back to Mordor. When the time comes he will return, and he will save the elf he never should have lost his heart to.

Summary
Perhaps if they weren't close for so long--how long has Talion gone from dead to half life to death to life again and again? Perhaps if Talion hadn't learned some of the magic that the Elves used so easily. Perhaps if the Elf hadn't trained him in the mystical arts and instead focused his own power through Talion as a crutch.
But by the time Talion and the Elf are separated by the spider it is not death that greets Talion. His flesh feels...odd, not quite fully life yet, but somewhat. The ring greets him as a stranger and yet friend. It takes a bit of will and word to make the ring recognize Talion as friend and authority. ( Master has left a bitter taste in Talion's mouth ever since he learned more of the Elf's background).
