Lena is left stranded and alone when Lex becomes a serial killer and Lillian freezes all of her bank accounts. With absolutely nothing left except a baby on the way and the urgent need to get out of Metropolis, Lena escapes to Midvale. When her car breaks down on her first day there, she meets Kara Danvers, the bubbly mechanic who shows her around town and promises to be her friend so she will no longer be alone.
Lena Luthor and her six year old little girl are running away from Metropolis and Lex’s disastrous downward spiral. When they make the move to the small and inconspicuous town of Midvale Lena just wants to make a happy and safe life for her daughter.
Even if Lena’s car hadn’t broken down just inside city limits, she would have met local mechanic Kara Danvers soon enough. Their chemistry was instant and their bond unbreakable.
They’re about to enter Midvale when a car pass over them at an alarmingly high speed.
“Now that’s a fine car, even though the driver is crazy …” Kara whistles, admiring the back of the car before it disappears. “ A Ford Mustang Shelby, GT500 … probably a 2019 but it could be a 2020, I didn’t get a great look.”
Winn throws her a weird look and Kara arches a brow.
“What? Why are you looking at me like this?”
“You’re telling me you never fixed that specific car?” Winn sounds incredulous but then a thoughtful look flashes in his eyes. “Well, that makes sense actually. It’s Cat Grant’s car.”
“Cat Grant?” Kara frowns. “The name doesn’t ring any bell …”
A prompt I got that asked for an AU in which Kara's a mechanic and Cat's husband is trying to buy off her garage.

The mechanic isn’t just pretty – she’s muscular. And sweaty. And broad. Her shoulders are wider than they look at first glance, and as she reaches up to remove her hat and wipe at her brow with her forearm, Lena can see her bicep flex.
She tries very hard not to be affected by that, or by the adorable red line the ball cap leaves on the woman’s forehead.
“Hi! I’m Kara. James said your Porsche gave out?”
Needing to get away from the stress of her job for a few months, Lena buys a summer lake house in the most remote town she can find. She fully intends on keeping to herself, resting, and interacting as little as possible with the local colour.
That is until her car breaks down, and the town mechanic happens to be the hottest woman she’s ever seen.
