‘Get in. We’re going on a road trip.’
‘Where are we going?’
‘Nowhere in particular.’
This is a modern AU for Les Huguenots in which Marguerite revs up an antique car and takes Valentine on a fast-paced drive around the countryside in Touraine one glorious summer day. They laugh, sing, act crazy, and maybe even admit something very big to each other...
Inspired by anderswasright’s response to an ask I sent about who in this opera would be most likely to sing Journey songs in the car. As a result, this is a very special gift for anderswasright, but this is also for everyone else who wants to read this and (I hope) enjoy!

Summary
Carlos receives an anonymous note to go to the laurel trees in one of the palace gardens at midnight. He thinks it's from Elisabetta, but it's not. It's not from Eboli either, or even Rodrigo. It's someone he's never met before.
Inspired by a long conversation I had with anderswasright on Tumblr.
