    Summary

This work pays homage to the seminole works of Sid and Marty Krofft, the brain children behind the wildly successful Saturday 1974 morning TV show The Land of the Lost. It featured the tribulations of the Marshall family, Rick, Will and Holly, surviving in an alternate universe populated by prehistoric dinosaurs, a tribal race of neanderthals (pakuni), a fiercesome race of insectlike/reptilian humanoid creatures (sleestak) and an Altrusian oracle and traveller, representing an advanced form of sleestak from a lost time. There was even an extra-terrestrial alien (The Zarn) rounding out the near-infinite storytelling possibilities for this extremely imaginitive world. Several successful writers took to the craft: Ben Bova, Larry Niven, Theodore Sturgeon, D.C. Fontana, David Gerrold and even Star Trek's own Walter Koenig (Chekov) credited for creating the most interesting of characters for the show, Enik the Altrusian.

A surprisingly dark series for its time and its audience, the show ran for three seasons with the first two seasons representing the higher caliber of storytelling; there were several strong episodes within the final season as well, in spite of (or due to) the serendipitous arrival of Uncle Jack.

Land of the Lost never had a real series finale. Whatever happened to Rick Marshall? How would he react to suddenly getting home as he did in the episode "Aftershock?" Hopefully, this series finale does our characters some justice.

When LOTL ended, many mysteries were left unsolved. This story tackles several of those mysteries, focusing specifically on the other Marshalls from Split Personality. Who were they? Who was the black Sleetstak? How did they get into this situation? What happened to them after Rick and Will helped? The answers to these and at least one other fairly famous unanswered question are in this story.

One of the best episodes of Land of the Lost was called Circle. It served as a potential series finale if the show did not get renewed. However, it did get renewed. The events of this episode do not fit with the rest of the series. Circle depicted events that showed the Marshall family getting home. Of course, if they got home, it would be hard to explain Uncle Jack and Rick getting home later in the series. It also does not fit with the episode Elsewhen. This story is from Enik's point of view, and shows how the lessons he learned from his encounters with the Marshall family led him to his solution to the paradox as shown in Circle, and is my attempt to fit it within the continuity of the show.

There are many reasons, all of them good, why you don't want Rumpelstiltskin as your travel agent. Carmilla is from a book published in 1897 by Sheridan LeFanu. She is a vampire who is cursed to always use anagrams of her name- and Cara Mills works so well. This is the first chapter, and Hyacinth will appear in the second, the Marshall family in the third. I'm not sure how many chapters this will have, but Miriam Blaylock doesn't appear until the end.
