Taera Jeong has always followed the “perfect immigrant child” path - AP classes, the perfect amount of extracurricular and leadership activities, university, medical school. On paper, her life is perfect but in reality it seems far from it. She feels like an imposter, and inevitably decides that medical school is not for her. Her best-friend, Jiah Kim, is on a similar boat even though she didn’t follow the ideal path. She went to culinary school and opened up a business - it failed miserably and left her just as lost as Taera.
Fed up of New York, the competitiveness, the fast paced life, and in search of their happiness they decide that something needs to change. They end up moving further down the East Coast to open a bakery-cafe in a smaller city with less competition. It seems like the perfect business plan, but only time will tell. And it doesn't help that sparks fly for the wrong reasons once they meet the Choi Brothers - of all the cities in the USA, they had to be residents of the one they moved to. Maybe what they say about first impressions being last impressions is true? Or maybe life has something bigger planned for them.
