Was this his life now? Days spent drifting around an enormous estate like a ghost, a forgotten wispy spectre of a bygone era? He should feel happy. Before, he'd had a purpose – keep fighting the Fire Nation, survive day to day until the war came to an end. Now what?

Summary
“Think about it,” Sokka hisses excitedly, trying his best to ignore the skeptical expression on Zuko's face. “We play matchmaker with them. And then when they’re boning, we’re free.”
Or,
Zuko’s boss won’t give him room to breathe. Sokka’s boss won’t let him in on the real action. So maybe, just maybe, the solution to both their problems lies in setting them up rom-com style and hoping for the best?

Summary
Jeong Jeong is running fast, deep in the forests of the Earth Kingdom, when he feels a searing pain in his upper arm. He grimaces and falls to his knees, clutching it. When the pain passes, he rolls up his sleeve.
On his arm, written in clear, inky black strokes, is a word.
Unwanted.
And in that moment, Jeong Jeong knows he’s the cause of his own mark.
-

Summary
After the war Piandao decided to teach the young adult that presented himself at his doorstep, he seemed like a decent guy that might have some potential ( the actual reason was that without the war he was starting to get bored, even if his 'activities' with his lover helped ).
What he didn't expect was his lesson to be interrupted by a very sleepy and stressed teenager.

Summary
What the hell was he fretting over? He didn’t care about any Fire Nation law or custom, which he made dramatically clear before. What the hell did it matter to him if he-- he couldn’t even put it into words in his head. If he were to look away from the women his colleagues desired, perhaps. If he were to feel more flushed at seeing Piandao’s forearms, straining with the billows, hands blackened by grease, his hair falling loose from his knot.

Summary
We just want to be left alone, the man yells back. There's no mystery to being gay. We're just like everybody else in America.
Piandao always keeps the closed captions on; they help him understand the English. That day he noticed someone had made a mistake at the T.V. station. The text underneath the man said: There's a mystery to being gay.
He laughed. And then he thought about calling Jeong Jeong.
It's 1993: Piandao is an Taiwanese PhD student who just wants to get his green card and teach. Jeong Jeong is an openly gay Korean-American activist vacillating between militant idealism and total despair. The two of them shouldn’t even be friends, except they are. They play a lot of Go. They spend a lot of time in cars. It's a love story.
Oh, and — Jeong Jeong writes a screenplay. It looks a bit familiar.

Summary
“I need your help with something,” Sokka murmured, looking out towards the horizon.
“With what?” Zuko asked. Sokka could see Zuko turning towards him in his peripheral, but he didn’t look away from the ocean.
“I need you to teach me how to firebend.”
Zuko sucked in a breath. “Sokka- I can’t- I can’t teach a nonbender how to bend, that’s just not how it works. I’m sorry.”
Sokka huffed. “I’m not a nonbender."
---
Or, the AU of all AU's, where Ozai banishes Zuko to the South Pole, Sokka can firebend, Zhao is the season one villan, and Kanna is Over Their Fucking Shit.

Summary
“You know I’m a little bit in love with you, right?” Sokka says after a while, muffled into Zuko’s hair. The other boy makes a little noise of surprise and stiffens up for a moment, but then he melts back into Sokka, as if he’s trying to eliminate every bit of space between them.
“Really?” Zuko whispers.
“Really,” Sokka says, raking a hand through his hair.
“Oh,” Zuko says. “Well, that’s good, because I’m a little bit in love with you too.”
---
Or, in a world where you start having prophetic dreams about your future with your soulmate after you first meet them, Sokka and Zuko struggle to find their place. (They'll find it eventually, I swear.)

Summary
[“You must know the pain of losing your firstborn,” Azulon had said. “Look for a suitable guardian for the boy, or give him to Iroh, if you’re so worried about the line of succession. I’m sure you’ve been training your son adequately; he should be able to catch up to Lu Ten soon enough.”
Giving Zuko to Iroh wouldn’t be enough, no – the boy would still be in the palace, still a wrench in his plans, a weakness to eliminate some way or the other.]
Or, the one where Piandao adopts Zuko.
