It’s not that Jason being there was a problem, in fact, it was the opposite–James was feeling good, a little tipsy, and the idea of his new mate providing some actual company felt like a good thing. He loved being around Jason, who was so excitable and bright and bouncing with joy at every little thing. But Jason was so new, James felt like he still didn’t have a handle on him. He felt like he was always tripping over his words around Jason. Playing the wrong notes. Forgetting lyrics. Forgetting to breathe. Because those stormy eyes that matched the sky beyond the water and the trees had stolen his breath from the second James had looked into them.

Jason Newsted, formerly of Flotsam & Jetsam knew that joining the biggest monster of a metal band was going to be though, but he was not prepared for things to be so fucked up. Luckily, there is at least one person in the crew who happen to like him. Her name is Emilia Campbell, she lives at the MetalliMansion with Kirk, James and Lars and she also happens to be his bass roadie.The two never could have guessed that the tragic accident which almost ended Metallica would eventually change their lives for the better.

“Smile,” Jason said and snapped a picture as James managed an extra cheesy grin. Jason chuckled and looked at him encouragingly. “A real smile.”
“That was a real smile,” James protested, adjusting his hat by the brim, turning it backwards, toying with a strand of hair. He could feel his cheeks burning and the slight sunburn on his shoulders burning up too, the sun right above the two of them, the camera lens casting a glare of it right into his eyes. “I’m too hot right now.”
“Yeah, you are,” Jason said with a smirk and lifted the camera again. The sly, playful words made James laugh, and he heard the camera click once, then again as he relaxed over the warm paint, letting his legs splay a bit.

(I know I deleted this in the past, but I couldn't help rewriting it again, since I loved the storyline so much!)
James and Kirk are a married couple living in the suburbs of California, with the desire to adopt a child of their own. Unfortunately, they are turned away by numerous agencies for being gay, that is, until Kirk happens to find one that accepts them for who they are and just so happens to have a special "baby" up for adoption named Jason. However, their parenting journey won't be easy, considering that Jason just so happens to be a 16 year old with a severe form of Autism, making him practically an overgrown infant.
First time parenting is going to be interesting...
