Summary
Shortly after the incidents on Altamid, Jim and Spock, still on Yorktown while the new Enterprise is under construction, are experiencing strange dreams that are not only unsettling but also begin to affect them physically. When they can’t afford to ignore them anymore, they discover that it has to be the same thing that haunts them, yet they can’t find the cause of it. With the help of Bones and part of the crew they travel to New Vulcan where they hope to find advice from Vulcan healers. All they know is that it has to do with Ambassador Spock, since the dreams started when he died.
But as the journey continues and Jim appears to be physically stable, Spock’s condition worsens by the day and before they even arrive on Vulcan, it’s almost too late. Bones struggles to keep Spock alive, Jim and Spock struggle with growing feelings – and they are all oblivious to the being that is watching them very closely …

This story is a romance between young James T. Kirk and Spock Prime. I have tagged it as a May-December romance so please make note of that if that is not your thing. This takes place after the events involving the destruction of Vulcan by Nero. This story is character driven so don't expect some exciting action adventure plot. It will be updated by spreadsheet like most of my other work unless the muse strikes me or stalls on something else.

It should have been me (it had been him in his universe) is Spock’s first thought after he momentarily gets over the wave, the crash of emotions he feels. His next thought is: I am not fine.

“Not at all,” says the Ambassador. There’s something very odd about his tone, and Spock thinks -- with a momentary sinking feeling that he only just manages to suppress -- that he’s made the wrong decision. He should have contacted his father instead, or at least taken the Ambassador’s communication in private, where he might have been able to more easily decline. As it was, Spock had cornered the Ambassador and made a very inconvenient request with a bridge full of old friends weighing the situation against him. As if he can read the conflict in Spock’s face, he continues, more firmly, “Jim’s counterpart in my own time was more important to me than, I think, you can understand at this point in your life. If he doesn’t prefer something more private, I’d like to host him myself. To have him here while he recovers would be a most welcome reminder of that...importance.”
