3 Works in Jack Zimmermann/Other(s)
In 2009, while Jack Zimmermann was curled into a ball on his bed in the most expensive rehab center in Montreal, the Seattle Schooners hired talent scout (and former Olympian) Georgia Martin as their new Assistant General Manager. The Falconers had made her an offer, but they clearly viewed her as a token "diversity hire" where the Schooners truly valued the perspective a woman of color could bring to their organization.
In 2015, she signed Jack Zimmermann, and the day after he graduated, Jack moved the 3,000 miles from Samwell to Seattle.
Now it's 2020, and Jack is happy. He loves his team. He only has one regret, one reason why part of him will always wish he'd signed somewhere on the east coast...
It's 2020, and the social media firm Bitty works for just transferred him to Seattle.
The thing was, Papa wanted a daughter and Mama wanted a son. Papa wanted a kid with Mama’s big blue eyes who he could dote on and buy dresses, and Mama wanted a kid with Papa’s soft hands and a killer slapshot who’d put her name on the Stanley Cup. But sometimes nobody’s happy, cause they wound up with a kid with Mama’s big blue eyes in a face with too much chin to be pretty, and a kid with soft hands and a slapshot that could break the sound barrier who wasn’t even eligible for the Stanley Cup.
When hockey is in full swing and when Jack looks to his other wing, to the other end of his line, it’s never the familiar face he wants it to be. When he goes home to Montreal, he drives to get gas and remembers slushies in the afternoon sun and kissing in the back of Jack’s car and hanging out in the park and going down easy for Kent in his bed, getting a break from his head and letting someone else take care of the big worries for a while.
Kenny is everywhere in that city, everywhere in his home. This year, worse than ever.
