Summary
The Caretaker knew the ways of dreams and death. Even if the events the mortals saw were lies, he knew the deeper truth they had reflected. The truth was, he was devoted to his sister, even as she lay sleeping in the grip of death.
(Because the game is very meta, I thought it would fit well into the way dreams work Lovecraft's writing, so that's the framework this fic fits in to avoid the "we're really in a game" issue of canon)
