Summary
"Prince Zuko," Iroh began, but the prince wasn't having it. He stormed away, not sparing his battered sparring partners a glance (he'd already bowed at the end of their match, anything else was unnecessary). Before he knew it he was in his quarters, flinging sparks from his fingers and hissing steam. When that passed, he aggressively lit his meditation candles and tried to calm down. It was difficult because unlike combat meditation came easily, which added insult to injury. Gentle flames licked the air and formed in his palms as well. They were warm and soothing, unlike how fire was supposed to be. Instead of stinging his skin with small burns, the flames numbed the scraps on his palms and the aches in his joints. He knew that by the time his meditation ended he would feel invigorated and new.
His heart burned with shame; no wonder father had discarded him. There was no greater disgrace than having a son who was a healer.

Summary
After his duel, Zuko had fled to the Earth Kingdom where he has been living for the past 3 years, living as a farmer and a healer after being adopted by a nice Earth Kingdom family, presumed dead by the Fire Nation when disappearing while injured, giving Iroh a chance to keep Azula from staying loyal to her father. Given a chance to heal & find people who genuinely care about him with no ties or loyalty to his father, he is able to be saved from growing bitter and jaded after years of failing at a mission. Using his alias as The Blue Spirit as a healer who has learned to use firebending to heal as opposed to as a thief and assassin, he is able to influence views on firebending from both the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes as wells as firebenders themselves. He comes across the Gaang in the harbor town he has been living in, connecting with them as a healer who still remembers how to fight from what his life used to be, joining their cause before they even reach the Northern Water Tribe.
This is a series, I have posted a summary at the end of the 1st part if you don't want to read Zuko's recovery arc. I would suggest reading it, but it isn't plot heavy and I'm not here to tell you how to live your life.

Maybe fire ferrets aren't the most effective conversation practice partners. His suave ways with the rodents don't seem to translate to humans.
They're way cuter though.

Zuko's favorite color is green.
Azula teases him endlessly for it. But it is the color of life, like the turtleduck's backs, and the sprigs of grass that push through the tiles of the palace halls.
Later, he supposes that should have been the first sign that he had everything wrong from the beginning.

Ok, so I'm composing all my tumblr posts on the Windwalker AU into this story. This AU is the unholy offspring of the two prompts:
What if Aang spent a couple of years immersed in a different type of airbender culture?
and
What if the nations weren't as divided as portrayed in the shows?If... y'all have questions about the story, the characters, or anything really you can either ask me on my tumblr or here guys :) I'm following a timeline for the story and there are some things I won't reveal until later, but a lot of things I can and will talk about.

Regaining conscious coming out of a huge dome of ice in a two dimensional world is crazy. As crazy as replacing Aang and becoming his female counterpart. And as equally crazy as living up to the duty of being an Avatar.
She has a long ways ahead of her.
