    Summary

    January 13, 1911, Charlottetown.

Gilbert Blythe, a 30-year-old medical examiner, and his police brother Sebastian Lacroix are assigned to investigate the murder of Anne Shirley, a famous theatre teacher and director of Canada's most prestigious art school. A disfigured and unidentifiable body has been found in the office of the young woman, adored and coveted by high society.Several people in Anne Shirley's entourage are suspected: Royal Gardener, her best friend, a journalist who helped her make a name for herself in high society; Charlie Sloane, her well-born but penniless and somewhat devoid of humanity fiancé. The officers can count on the help of Marilla Cuthbert and Susan Baker, the school's adoptive mother and housekeeper respectively.

Gilbert finds himself increasingly disturbed by the case, especially by the large portrait of Anne in her office, causing him to develop feelings, even an obsession, for this woman he knows only through a painting and the words of those who knew her.

But what if an unexpected outcome changed the course of the story? And who was actually Anne Shirley?

    Summary

Anne and Gilbert had looked at each other with a mad, insane intensity, able of making even the most fragile souls turn their eyes, while they repeated the most unconventional wishes that existed on Earth.

The young man then took the ring in his palm, feeling a fireball in his veins. "Finally.” -he thought. - “Finally, I will put the ring on her finger so that it may rest there for this life and the next one."

"I, Gilbert John Blythe, do solemnly swear to you, Anne, to love and cherish you, to protect you and to accompany you along this path that life takes us on. I promise to be there for you in the twists and turns of life, as well as in the doubts, fears, and mistrusts, to be that voice that guides you when you get lost from weariness. Beyond writing our history, we will continue the fight, our fight, since your struggles are now anchored to my ankles. I will make you mine as much as you will make me yours, and I know that if it were up to me, our intertwined wings would shine like fireflies, for at least eternity.”

The mouths of the guests were wide open and the furrowed brows of some gave them an ungraceful look, but all this was the least of the worries of our two revolutionary brides.

In "Anne of Ingleside," L.M. Montgomery wrote of the year that Gilbert came down influenza "which almost ran to pneumonia" and the "few anxious days" in which he was in danger of dying.

A look inside the Ingleside household during this week in March.

    Summary

"Madam, I'm sorry. Your husband was found dead this afternoon."

With her mouth hanging open in shock, Anne could not grasp the strange feeling she felt deep inside. The policeman looked at her with a bewildered expression. She was not crying, she was just shaking her head before closing the door of her home.

    Summary

    January 1900, Avonlea,
All was well in Anne Shirley-Cuthbert's world until her beloved Gilbert Blythe and his soul brother, Sebastian Lacroix, had to go to sea after being called to the rescue. A terrible storm was devastating the lives and hopes of the whole of Prince Edward Island.

    December 1902, Avonlea
The gossip mouths of Avonlea consider Anne Shirley-Cuthbert to be mad, out of her mind. How could anyone stop living and refuse Charlie Sloane's ring, when there was no hope for Gilbert Blythe and Sebastian Lacroix to be alive, three years after their disappearance? Yet, if they knew...

The murky sea can sometimes give us surprises, but not always the ones we would have wished for.

    Summary

The rays of the late summer sun through the large bedroom window seemed to cover the shining, silky hair of the new Mrs. Blythe with its golden glow; while eager eyes watched her intently in awe and wonder.
Gilbert had awakened to the candour of dawn that morning, his hazel coloured eye sockets staring at the door of the room where he was in the dim light of day, before lingering on the large bed, and then concretely on the person still sleeping on his shoulder.
As he gently shifted a few strands of her long red hair, he watched her with a loving gaze, tracing the contours of her body. From her messy hair to her slender feet half hidden by the long ivory silk sheet, passing by her curves wrapped up under her lace nightgown. How could he resist?

    Summary

There she was, sitting on his lap, both of them at the foot of a great tree to which life offered apples by the dozen. She was here in his arms, while he spun her around, her hair blowing in the wind; to the melody of their own beating hearts.

And yet, every time he wanted to touch her, just to take her hand, it was as if she were a ghost that could be punctured in the heart without realizing it. It was all nothing more than an old dream where souls in pain sometimes wander, it seems.

He knew he had to face the facts. He was not the one who would make her laugh, the one who would collect her every smile as if it were the most precious of collections, the man who would have the right to love her, to cherish her and to cover her with cloaks of love and warmth.

The sweet scent of the fir tree mixed with the delicate aroma of cinnamon doughnuts and the musky smell of burning candles intoxicated the Blythe's large living room. The whole family was gathered around the oldest members of the tribe, Gilbert and his wife Anne.

    Summary

At the crossroads, Gilbert was forced to make a choice: take the faster or the longer route. Under normal circumstances, this methodical and pragmatic young man would have taken the former without any hesitation, but something much deeper and almost inexplicable within him made him choose the latter.

"What made me choose this path?” he wondered to himself. “It must be the need to soak up some of the fresh air and to get lost in the wonders of nature, preparing me for a tough day.”

He admired how the trees were preparing themselves for winter and how the autumn-coloured leaves danced to the melody of the wind. What he saw next, made his heart almost stop in horror.

He spotted Billy Andrews, an awful classmate, in the distance. Holding a shotgun, he was taking aim at a poor unfortunate owl with bright red hair and incredibly magnetic and beautiful deep blue eyes.

She was trapped, tied to an almost completely bare tree; no doubt waiting for her final breath — yet she looked at her killer with an air of savagery, fiery defiance. For a moment, his eyes closed as his mind was flooded with flashbacks.

    Summary

Two silhouettes from behind dancing in the misty half-light under the wonderful sky painted with a bright moon, dotted with a thousand and one stars. The faint music of the wind made their hair twirl while their bare feet waltzed on the wet grass. Lost in their little corner of paradise, perched high on the hill, facing the Avonlea Sea. Summer and life had never been so glorious.
    And then...
A long sigh, a small cry, a slight salty sensation running down his cheek, eyelids closed, twitching with pain and his head lost thousands of miles away. Far, far away, from the tumultuous life of Toronto. His lips tightened in despair as he learned to live with his torment.

    Summary

"The suspect's request for an appeal was refused by the public prosecutor. Anne Shirley-Cuthbert and her accomplices are therefore sentenced to death. The act will take place within twenty-four hours. You are dismissed.”

The judge's deep, emotionless voice sounded like a drumbeat in the hearts of the twelve women sitting in the dock in the small Charlottetown courthouse.

They had been caught after an attempted coup d'état when the politics of restricting women's rights and explaining Indian camps was raging in the country.

Anne knew that signing this act of rebellion risked defeat and that adding her name to the paper in large letters could cost her her life. But death was a risk to freedom and knights, warriors, are never afraid to fight for their beliefs and ideals.

She thought of Gilbert, her fiancé, whom she had only just found after a few years of a long-distance relationship. He had tried to stop her from taking the lead in this fight for minority rights, but what could you do against an absolutely determined and impulsive revolutionary redhead?

    Summary

In the evening, when they were all together to celebrate their achievement, Anne retired outside with a glass of punch in her hand, finding herself drawn to the moonlight, which was shining in its most beautiful guise. She was surprised when shortly afterwards she heard soft footsteps at her side.
Gilbert had indeed waited a few minutes before deciding to join her on Miss Stacey's porch, seeing her with a smirk on her face, contemplating the beauty of the sky. He sat down next to her, feeling a slight pang in his heart as his knee gently brushed hers.
They chatted animatedly and happily, even allowing themselves to joke together.
"Who would have thought that after all these years, we would have become such a good T-E-A-M?"
He'd spelled the last word, echoing all their spelling battles and the memories that came with it.
Anne smiled, looking at him softly, before losing her footing and feeling her mind slip away for a few seconds. He felt her incredible precious blue eyes descend upon his lips and her hazel prunes did the same as he gazed upon her perfectly shaped red mouth with longing and desire.

    Summary

He felt that something was imminent, but he had no idea what was about to happen.
As he walked, he heard a soft whisper, as fine as silken lace, as subtle as a caress on the palm of the hand. Surprised, he stopped, hypnotized by the melodious sound of the voice in his ears.
He searched for the source of the sound, turning his head to the right, then to the left, to the front, or to the back, before he came to the small stream with a perfect view of the hill opposite. His heart stopped as he saw the identity of the wonderful sound.
His hazel eyes gazed in wonder at the long red hair that fluttered in the summer sky. The girl, of average height, was dressed in an emerald green dress with ruffles, which brought out the rich hues of her fiery locks.
She whirled in the wind around the trees, while she spoke without stopping, as if immersed in her own story, her own world.
"Oh, if you only knew how happy I am to get up every morning at dawn to greet you, my dear friends, the trees. Nature is so beautiful, why waste it and not enjoy it?"

    Summary

He was there, she was there. Her hazel eyes darkened by sadness and anger, her blue eyes reddened by tears and remorse. The wind was blowing their hair through the air, and the stars shining on the horizon in the moonlight was a sight they would have loved to see...

"How could you do this to me, Anne?! How could you take something so personal for your fucking book and not even bother to tell me once?! I trusted you and you betrayed me. "His bloodshot eyes stared wildly at her.
"I... I'm so sorry, Gil. I..." She was trying to express herself as best she could.
"Don't ever call me that again, Anne Shirley. Is that clear?! Only my friends can do that. And as you can see, you're off the list and... You never should have been, anyway. I wonder how I could have... been... wrong about you like that and become so interested in you, that I even imagined... that I believed for sure that you were the Chosen One, the woman I dreamed of writing the rest of my life with until my last breath. And you, you..."

Gilbert couldn't even finish his sentence, all the words seemed paltry, and the tears flowed as proudly as the rain dripping on the cars, seeing the state of his face.

"So I'm being ignored, Miss Shirley-Cuthbert?"

A voice whose range she knew at a glance startled her. Laughter greeted her as she ran madly into the centre of the room. She jumped into the arms of the man who had stolen her mind, her dreams and her heart.

She looked up after a few minutes of a tight and intense embrace, he was staring at her with his hazel pupils constantly flickering between the dark green of the trees' sap and the light brown of the earth, sometimes even with a golden glow as beautiful as a gold ring.

Thinking of this, she exclaimed, as a recent memory came back to her mind.

"The letter! Gilbert, you must do me this favour, I beg you!"

    Summary

With the sudden sound of books collapsing to the floor, the awkward but pleasant sensation of foreign arms around her waist, the young redhead opened her eyelids and her sky-coloured eyes widened as she gazed into the face of the boy who held her in his arms.

In her mind's eye she saw the idyllic, fantastical green eyes of the Laird McAllister melt away like little snowmen with the arrival of spring, to be replaced by the boy's deep, dilated hazel eyes.

The felted headgear thus became an Aegean hat, and the Laird's clothes became black trousers, a pair of braces laid over a white shirt, accompanied by a red checked jacket

    Summary

This is the first fanfic I wrote some time ago with these characters, it follows Anne's life from her beginnings through her meeting with Gilbert, to the realisation of their love.

I made a mix between scenes from the show and some totally invented passages.

I hope there aren't too many spelling mistakes, I am not a native English speaker.
I hope you enjoy this story and I send you lots of love. Please feel free to comment me your opinion. ♥
