Brian and Roger are a little hesitant. Tim had told them his mate Farrokh was pretty cool; oh and don't call him Farrokh, call him Freddie, and by the way he has got an absolutely BRILLIANT voice.
But then Tim runs off to join another band, and now Freddie has inserted himself into theirs. Which is fine, but he wants to give them a new name. A ridiculous name. The most outlandish one anyone could have possibly come up with, and neither of them are entirely happy with it.
But ah, well. What have they got to lose?
(Or, a story written as a series of one-shots based on the article in LIFE Magazine explaining how Queen got together and became, well, QUEEN.)
This piece includes some swearing, references to drinking, and recreational drug use. There are also references to depression and death. It is listed for General Audiences, but I felt this information was necessary to read responsibly.
Fred gets a bad flu. John and Roger try to take care of him but are abysmal at best-- Roger burns soup and almost singes a cat and Deacy runs around with bedclothes tented over his head until Brian arrives to save the day.
(Or, it is late summer/early fall of 1982 and after the Hot Space tour in America Freddie gets incredibly sick. It is entirely possible this sickness was the original inception of his HIV/AIDS symptoms.)
Includes some swearing.
Chapters 10 and 11 in particular include medical situations that could potentially be frightening or triggering to some readers. I will also be including some references to an abusive relationship and to drug use in later chapters, so please be warned and read responsibly.
"You've got to be the most gifted songwriter I know, Freddie."
"You're sweet, but I could really use your help on this one, Deacy darling." Fred's brown eyes hold John's light ones, and the bassist dips his face and smiles.
(Or, Freddie enlists John's aid in writing 'Friends Will Be Friends'.)
