a work skin that mimics the program Discord (for chatfics or fics that feature use of it)

made this skin over a couple days; it won't look good on mobile or with creator's style disabled and the discord font isn't one most people have installed but it mimics a discord server pretty well and the html is pretty easy to customise!

    Summary

This is a work in progress and due to me not owning certain installments in the series, it will likely never be complete to my personal satisfaction unless others want to re-write sections, in which case I will add them as co-creators.

The purpose of this is to give newcomers or casual fans of the Castlevania series a carefully laid-out summary of the canon materials, while also mentioning questionably canon/non-canon materials briefly in case someone is interested. For now, it consists entirely of a very short timeline that functions as a table of contents followed by more in-depth information. I am hoping to eventually expand this to include information on important themes, repeated story elements and locations, character analysis, setting discussion, art styles, etc. In essence, I want this to be a reference for people interested in the Castlevania canon, particularly those interested in writing about it.

This is a live example of how an author can create linked footnotes in their work with only a little bit of HTML and no workskins required. This is best viewed by clicking "Entire Work". While I've included the actual coding in bold and italic once you click "Hide Creator's Style", there's a more detailed explanation here.

EDIT 6/28/17: The third chapter now shows how to use anchor links as an index/table of contents.

Anonymous on tumblr: do you have a skin that would mimic the author’s notes and review/kudos buttons section from the end of a fic? the desired effect being that the fic could go on after the “end” of the fic, so after the author’s notes and review/kudos buttons

Here's a tutorial/live example to do just that, with some of the buttons actually functioning. I'll explain more inside!

Hooray! You've made a podfic! But now, how do you share it? Posting to tumblr, youtube, or a fandom-specific community are all decent options. But chances are, if the fic you recorded is from AO3, you'll reach the largest and most receptive audience by also posting to AO3.

The archive welcomes all types of fanwork, but is structured and built primarily for written works. Posting podfic can be confusing or complicated if you're unfamiliar with it. This guide will cover both the basic mechanics of posting podfic to AO3, as well as the typical conventions used by the podfic community to help your audio be found by people who want to listen.

Want to make a character a concert pianist but don't know what they're doing with their feet? The girl is a very good player but not quite the top level: how do you say that? The boy likes slamming the lid down to annoy people... what else can he do? Is tipping a piano over a balcony plausible as a murder method? Well, you can PM me for specifics, but for general information, here is your handy guide to everything you need to know!

This includes everything from the differences between upright and grand pianos, what can go wrong with a piano, how to tell a scale from an arpeggio, examples of easy and hard piano music and has a handy glossary at the beginning for basic terms. I've written this with people who've never met a piano in mind, so hopefully everybody should find this easy to understand. And all in bite-sized segments, wow!

[NEW SOURCES ADDED 4/16/2017] A compilation of links and resources used while writing World War II period piece, The Specialist in GhostCrumpet's Victory Girl verse, which isn't necessarily historically accurate, but pays homage to the zeitgeist/vocabulary/patterns of speech of the time during which it takes place. Until period accurate army resources can be located for certain army docs, modern army regs and rules may be listed instead, in some cases. (Also includes some writing/editing resources.)

I see a lot of people debating how larger SBURB sessions would go. The general consensus seems to be that they'll either breeze right along through it or completely and utterly fail, but I figured I would go more in-depth with my reasoning.

This is also going to be a guide to a series of short stories I intend to post later. As a result, Chapters 3-14 are little bios for the characters I've made up. If you don't wanna read those, you don't have to, but I may reference them from time to time.

    AkaKuro Titanic!AU. Long Oneshot.
