“I tried to convince my boss to let me go down there, but he said it was a conflict of interest‒since you’re my boyfriend and all‒so he sent someone else to do the story,” she sighs dejectedly as she rubs his ams with cool, bony hands.
The story. He and Eddie were being held at gunpoint by two inmates who had nothing to lose...and Taylor was more upset about not getting to cover the story than she was about either of them being shot and possibly killed‒of her own boyfriend being killed.
“W-wait, you wanted to go live and report the story of me a-and Eddie being held hostage? Of Eddie being trapped in that ambulance with a desperate man who was armed?”

The bell over the door rings just as he rounds the corner and Buck is so startled by the sheer handsomeness of the man that’s just come into the cafe that he misses the counter entirely. He loses his grip on the container, the weight slips from his fingers and the batch goes spilling across the floor before he can stop it.
