Summary
Ranboo had been saved!
A raid on the auction house he and Michael had been sent to by the hunters guild, led to him and the human toddler winding up at a research station that had access to the End. He could finally go home! Search for his family! Find out who he was before… everything happened.
But— he hesitated.
He didn’t really remember anything about the End. Would it be safe there? What about Michael? The human toddler only had one eye and on cold days struggled moving his burnt arm. Was it cold in the End?
The researchers were kind and had given the strange pair a room at the station. These humans never tried to separate them, never made eye contact with him, and said they could stay as long as they needed. To heal before deciding to step into the Rift or back into the overworld.
As the screams echo down the hall, Ranboo can’t help but wonder “could he have prevented this?”

Ranboo had never seen an avian child before. He paused to study this one, employing his royal prerogative of looking anyone in the eye that he wanted to, and scoffed. The child had ragged wings with shortened feathers, nothing like the avian he’d seen performing some weeks before. Its wrists were purplish beneath its gold bracelets, which dangled chains that weren’t even attached to anything, and the same markings splashed piecemeal across its cheek and upper arms, disappearing into the sleeves of its shirt.
Overworlders were so bizarre. Ranboo was glad he lived in the End, where he never had to look at them.
“This is a kidnapping,” Ranboo informed the child, because leaving a body would be gauche and also felt unpleasant to think about, and cut its jewelry away with a flash of his knife.

In The End kingdom of Elvo, Ranboo lives in lavish halls, big feasts, and gentle affirmations from his beautifully dressed parents and his intelligent teachers and other castle workers. He feels like he has it all in his sturdy life, and only minuscule things seem to bother the Enderian prince.
But, after his coronation, he is introduced to Tubbo, an Overworldling set to be his personal guard within the borders of his home. Tubbo drips with sharp sarcasm and quick-witted remarks that rival Ranboo's own, and the differences he finds between them; and the fact Ranboo doesn't see why he needs his own personal guard, make him resent his parent's choices for him.
But, despite that, Ranboo grows to enjoy the company and the secrets that come with his bright-eyed guard.

The stranger was tall, was the first thing he noticed. Tubbo had to crane his neck up to look at their face at such a close range. Although, he realized quickly, it may be best to keep his eyes downward instead. They were an enderman, clearly: long legs, alien proportions, chitinous armor that’s rough and black instead of softer skin. Purple particles floated in the air around them. It was the same type of build he’d come to recognize in Ranboo.
It was also, very clearly, not Ranboo at all. Or at least...not the one he knew.
