Summary
Old legends speak of a select group of ponies, linked by common ancestry and hidden in plain sight. Where they came from is a tale that dates back to before Nightmare Moon, and has its origins in a war beyond most ponies' comprehension. You've probably seen them without even recognizing them, thanks to their unique magic, but rest assured, they're on your side. They are known as the Order of Gallopfrey.
Quiver Quill and Lyra Heartstrings are among those who know of the myth, but the truth behind it is something they could only dare to imagine. But as time and magic shift around them and all of Equestria is threatened, they find themselves forced to grapple with that old mystery. Fortunately, they won't do so alone, as they find themselves dealing with a mad pony with a big blue box. Get ready, Equestria, because the Doctor is in.

But rather than being white, with a mane formed from a prism of color, this baby was blue, close to pitch, with a softer blue man. Her parents lovingly named her Luna. Not too long after, they had another baby. White, this time. I'm sure you know what to imagine. They named this child Celestia; thus, our two sisters were born.
And, due to this one small change in what was now ancient history, we must begin anew; hear the story from the beginning. A familiar story, and yet so very, very different. -

I wrote this fic during the phase of the fandom's development when everyone and their grandmother were writing grimdark fics. Rereading this fic, I can immediately see a lot of areas where I should've stepped back and asked myself if it was worth writing in the first place. I remember writing this fic because, being a self-absorbed little shit at the time, I somehow took the ponies' behavior in the season 2 opening as a personal insult. This fic is what happens when someone with an underdeveloped emotional maturity decides they know better than a show's creators and tries to address topics that they're in no way qualified to address, and then in the middle of the fic, I decided to make it a pseudo-crossover with the video game adaptation of Dante's Inferno. In the hands of a better author, this story might've worked, but it definitely shows a lack of understanding of the characters I was writing about and how character motivation in general works, and an overall lack of rationality, and I was the wrong person to talk about some of the topics inherent to this fic. Perhaps the worst part is that this story is just depressing to read.
Rated M for emotional abuse, gore, torture, language, and implied non-con and suicide.

Summary
This was the first fic I wrote when I joined the MLP fandom, during the hiatus between seasons 1 and 2. I was learning to play Yu-Gi-Oh! at the time and noticed a number of parallels between the characters in the two shows. Initially I wondered which signer dragon would be paired with which pony, and that gradually developed into an outline for a story. The ideas I tried to write turned out to be oddly prophetic when season 3 and later episodes rolled around, and I have revisited this story on and off with each passing season, but I honestly didn't think about what I wanted to do beyond exploring the parallels between the two series. I originally wanted to omit the meklords entirely, as I found them less interesting conceptually than the Earthbound Immortals, but during the final season, our villainous trio served as perfect matches to them. My immaturity and inexperience are readily apparent while reading this, so expect a LOT of cringe.
Rated Mature. Trigger Warnings for death and violence.
