8 Works in Dean Winchester Says the Wrong Thing
Thoroughly fed up with Dean’s inability to open up emotionally, Cas walks away only to find comfort in another man’s embrace.
The one where Dean realizes his mistakes, but will there be enough time?
The bunker door slams behind him and he finally lets his walls drop. Three sobs burst from his chest in quick succession. That is all he allows himself. Anything else would be excessive.
“We are.” He had said to Dean. And at the time he’d believed it… because he couldn’t bear not to.
Dean had realised though; they weren’t real.
Soft chirping comes from a nearby bush. Inside a small nest is a lone dove, it’s wing is broken. Castiel can relate. He strokes the bird’s head tenderly and it nuzzles at him with its beak. “You’ll be okay.” He assures, taking a moment to appreciate the plushness of its feathers. He releases a small trickle of grace, instantly mending the bird’s wing. It chirps again, happily and burrows into his hand in thanks.
There was once a time when the bird’s aura would be enough to indicate it’s feelings but with his powers failing steadily, even that is no longer available to him. Even Dean’s soul… he would have liked to see it one last time… even that simple pleasure had been revoked.
So Castiel made his way towards his new life completely unaware that something sinister was watching him and to the pile of rotting flesh that lay just a few yards away.
“Look! Sam, Dean, a play!”
And damn it all if Dean doesn’t almost swerve off the road and crash as he takes in the sign.
‘Supernatural: The Musical. And of course, Marie’s face is plastered on the side. Don’t kids ever learn anything?
“Dean hates that play.” Sam provides, as Dean continues to sulk in silence.
He hates people knowing about his life. About things that he hadn’t even told his brother… things that he didn’t want to acknowledge as real.
Cass frowns. “From what I can see it seems like it’s a fairly accurate portrayal of your lives.
“Yeah, but it’s our lives Cass. It talks about all our rough patches and fights and every bad thing that ever happened. Why would we watch it?”
“Because I want to see it. I’ve never seen a musical before.”
“Yea, well, you can barely call this a musical.” He mutters, turning on his indicator anyway.
Team Free Will 2.0 watch the supernatural play... only some things in the second act have changed.
When Dean finds out Castiel thinks they could be a good couple how will he cope?
Will he push him away?
Or will unforeseen circumstances force them to face the music?

He watched helplessly as his body hit the dirt, his wings etched into the mud… the final touch. A stroke of death, that, in his eyes, could never be revoked. Dean doesn’t regret many things in life. He can’t afford to. But he always regretted letting Sam drag him back. It’s stupid to go in now, he knows it. He rips Cass’ arms back, trying to wrench him away from the portal… to get him to wait. Stay.
“Twelve hours is nothing.” He hisses, holding onto Cass with all his might.
“That’s why we have to act quickly. Before it closes.”
“And if it closes with us in it… then what?” he demands, “We find the blossom and play ring around the roses for the rest of the time?”
“When a human enters Purgatory, a portal opens.”
“Yea. A human portal. For me. We still don’t know if it works for you.” he yells, “We can’t risk it. You stay here and wait for Sam. He’ll… know how to keep the portal open.”
Cass shoves him back. “We don’t have time for this. You can stay here.” He says mirroring Dean’s words from earlier. The portal flashes as Cass steps through. Dean curses. Common sense grabs him by the neck and rattles him around. Dean ignores it. Sam wouldn’t want him to go. But Sam isn’t here this time.
Dean is conducting an elicit affair with some enigmatic chick with no name and no discernible features. Sam, like a good brother he stalks them hoping to find some answers. Along the way some mistakes are made, a multitude of confused and terribly ill-informed deductions are made along with some really sappy love confessions.
And when Sam finds out who the 'mystery woman' really is, just how well will he take it?
Sam finds Dean in the Impala with a 'mystery woman,' and makes it his life's mission to find her.
And he does.
Except it was actually Cass the whole time.
Marley has always had insecurities about her body, and Dean makes it worse.
But Sam? Sam makes it better.
