Summary
Steve Rogers has a past that led to him becoming The Captain, the most notorious mob boss in Brooklyn.
Tony Stark has a past that led to him leaving home at 18, setting up his own garage and trying to get on with his life as best he could.
When Tony is hired to fix Steve's bike, Steve knows he is screwed. Tony Stark is sassy, doesn't take any of his bullshit and has eyes to die for and Steve absolutely knows he shouldn't go anywhere near him yet he finds himself drawn into whatever this thing with Tony is. With both the police and Hydra closing in around him, a rising body count and a team to protect, Steve needs to do whatever it takes to protect his family but he still can't seem to distance himself from the Mechanic that has captured his attention and quite possibly his heart.
(The Mob Boss and Mechanic AU story that started out as a tumblr prompt and ended up as a full length fic).

She smiled at him sweetly, clearly happy with the result of her efforts. “I’ll be back down asap,” she chimed, turning around and hurrying down the hall. Steve watched the sway of her skirt as her hips moved, his jaw clenching with loath. He couldn’t stand her wearing those kinds of things outside of the house, but he didn’t want to hail down on her like an authoritarian. He wanted her to be open with him, to see him as reliable and understanding. He let her wear whatever she liked, and she thankfully didn’t have too skimpy of a taste in fashion.
Just as she reached the bottom of the stairs to the upper floor, Steve called out to her, making her turn around and look at him expectantly.
“Yeah Steve?” she waited.
“I’ve told you a hundred times, Mel,” he spoke with a glint in his eyes that she could see from across the dim hallway. “Dad. Not Steve.”

“Don't you like it?" Steve grinned, wide and menacing. The warmth and adoration in his eyes had dissolved into a manic gleam. Bucky’s eyes are wide, his legs trembling as he attempted to back away. Steve didn’t mind, he just took steps closer until Bucky’s back hit the wall.
Bucky has dreamt about this before. About Steve Rogers pinning him to the wall, chest against chest, lips against lips. He remembers the thick eyelashes brushing against his cheeks, stammering heartbeats and fluttering eyelids. He remembers the vivid sensation of a gentle kiss and how wet his bed when he wakes up in the morning.
He doesn’t remember this.
“Pretty.”

"Stark always takes a lady home, regardless of who's she is- sometimes he lets them walk but if he likes them well enough..." He paused in his briefing with a heavy pause, and everyone in the room felt the tension, they knew this could be dangerous. "He keeps them..." He finished swallowing the slump in his throat at the thought of one of their own being held captive, but this was the only way.
"An odd way in, but a sure fire." His higher up, Quentin, said, not a once of worry for his subordinates, which showed in his follow up sentence, "If we miss the shot we just keep sending girls in." He said, with not remorse.
That said, They *had* a great agent as bait at one of his parties- unfortunately Peter has to substitute- all he needed to do was somehow get on Stark's good side, and infiltrate the mob.
Only problem was Mariana was at the wrong place at the wrong time... leading to her getting picked up as well.

He remembered going as a friend to Rogers, and then being shown that…gruesome video. He remembers Rogers uttering the heart shattering truth behind it all. He had known. Moreover, did not think to tell Tony. He had the audacity to preach, “Sometimes my teammates don’t tell me things,” but was terribly fine using Tony’s money and resources to find his parents murderer! What. The Actual. Fuck?! He remembered the fight that ensued after that revelation, the cold determination in Roger’s eyes as he fought for his Sargent. He especially remembers the shield digging a permanent indent into his artificial chest, after he realized that Rogers had been aiming for his neck, to go in for the kill, to do whatever it took to save his Sargent.
He also remembers the peace he felt when he had decided to accepted that death was unavoidable, and that it would be better to accept it, than fight it. At least this way, it would be less painful.
