Lady Sage Marian zi'Hawke has everything she could have wished for. She's a Guiding Light, one of the ruling class of Nyra; she's a mage, openly and acknowledged, in the most magical city in Aldis, and she has a loving, supportive, and wonderful (if a bit eclectic) found family. She's married to a wonderful woman, she's getting help for her Battle Fatigue, and best of all, her brother's left town permanently. What more could she want?
And yet, something's still not right. Her soul still hungers for more. She's still afraid, sometimes, that all of it will vanish and she'll be left alone. Summary
The drums of war are sounding, and the Empire is finding itself besieged by the forces of Mehrunes Dagon. However the actions of Kaius Desin and Viconia DeVir has bought time for Martin to begin translating the Mysterium Xarxes and for the Blades to take the fight to the Mythic Dawn. What started as simply seeking support from the Fighters Guild has instead resulted in Knighthoods in Leyawiin's Order of the White Stallion and new allies against the forces of darkness.
But a new threat is rising to threaten the fragile balance of power. Umaril the Unfeathered has chosen this moment to return and his acts of revenge against the Nine could finish breaking the barriers between Mundus and Oblivion. Unable to wield the relics or don the mantle of Divine Crusader; they must instead find other ways to face down the unholy threat of the Sorcerer-King before he can seal the world's doom.
