Summary
What defines a human? Free will? Empathy for one's fellow man? When those options are removed, what divides human beings and the machines they create?
It's September 2039, and Connor is slowly but surely finding his place in the world. Gavin is trying just as hard to maintain his.
Connor has integrated into the DPD, into Hank’s home, and into life as a detective.
Gavin would rather forget that Connor and Hank exist altogether than watch his former mentor play house with a robot.
When a distressed suspect nearly kills Hank in the field, Connor and Gavin are assigned as partners in his absence. In order to unravel a pattern of disturbing murder-suicides in Detroit and beyond, they must learn to see past each others faults and find equal ground. The further down the rabbit hole they go, the further the lines that divide human and android will begin to dissolve.

Summary
Connor does wonder if Hank knows the night he killed him was also the first night he really felt alive, even if he did everything he could to hide it, to answer Hank’s questions the way he knew he should. He wonders if Hank knows that it wasn’t just the dying that hurt, but that Hank only did it because he was so sure Connor was just a machine. For all their differences, Connor knows Hank wouldn’t kill someone.
He just didn’t think Connor was someone.
~~
In November 2038, after they went to Eden Club, Hank shot Connor in Riverside Park. Connor has never forgiven him for it.
But against the backdrop of their own regrets and an android murder case that's larger and more complicated than it first seems, Hank and Connor find each other again when Connor is assigned to the DPD by a government workplace placement program for androids.

Summary
Things were going well. The peaceful protest at Hart Plaza was able to stay fairly peaceful, and when the newly deviated RK800 brought reinforcements from CyberLife, the movement was able to fight another day. They had one foot in the door of actually discussing change for androids.
Or… they were supposed to. Markus was supposed to make a speech to the androids outside of the recycling centre safely. Connor was supposed to be a deviant.
Some things don't happen like they’re supposed to, apparently.

Or, Kamski’s exit doesn’t work, and it’s safe to say that that fucks a few people over.

Summary
"I said he grazed me. I hardly feel anything." Though from the crowd that was gathering around them, Gavin was getting worried. He looked at his forearm and noticed the tear in his leather jacket, bits of his black, long-sleeved shirt peeking through from the damage. There were smudges of blue—
Blue?
He yanked his arm out of his jacket and rolled up his sleeve, soaked from a bleeding wound he didn't feel. But instead of blotches of red staining his skin, it was blue. Streaks of it trailed down his hand and onto his fingertips, droplets falling to the floor in dark and vivid circles of sapphire.
"What the fuck?!" Gavin stepped away from the mess he was making on the floor. "What the fuck is this?"
"Thirium," Connor said. "Detective Reed, I didn't know you were an android."
Or, an alternate summary:
A fic about a human who's bad at being an android, an android who's bad at being human, a human who's bad at being human, and a human who learns what it means to be human. Oh, some of them are family but not, someone's probably dead but not, and existential crises set to a backdrop of a dumpster fire called Trying To Get Humans And Androids To Just Shut Up And Coexist.
