Summary
Technically it's not Tommy, Tubbo or Ranboo's job to protect people. Technically they are thieves who steal for a living. But an ex-hero's training in combat makes for a lot of internal conflict when your district (and the districts around it) is full of crime and desperation. So they made a promise, every time they went out for a bout of petty thievery they would be on the lookout for people in need of help. It was an ok plan; they only ever had to follow it once a month when they really needed money for food and rent, but unfortunately, heroes don't take kindly to people without a license using enhancements to fight crime. So, even after a lucky opportunity to change careers, SBI is set on their tail and a whole mess of wind-ups and paranoia ensue.

Tommy had been facing bullying issues for a few months now, Techno less severe bullying; a change in schools was going to be implemented soon. With trouble socialising, adapting to a new school setting and not wanting to be a burden to his soon-to-be father, will Techno be alright?

Techno is a college student who ended up exposing corrupt government officials as a job. Wilbur— his twin brother —is an infamous villain. Tommy— his little brother —is a superhero with a mouth fit for a sailor and a heart filled with gold.
Imagine the worst. Techno's activities pisses off a few people. Tommy gets roped into the bullshit. Wilbur is a sly prick. Either they solve this bullshit or die, probably.
Techno has college tuition fees to pay, grades to maintain and sleep to catch up on. Why is his life like this.

It’s the first snowy day of the year, which leaves Wilbur with mixed feelings. After Wilbur pushed Techno to far asking questions, he wants to go apologize. After he does a small problem is uncovered. Sometime during the argument 6 y/o Tommy went outside, by himself. This is bad enough, until they find Tommy, who is stuck in the middle of a very much NOT frozen pond. Wilbur and Techno, being amazing brothers, go and look for him. Things go down hill fast or rather someone falls in when the ice cracks.
