Sam considers, along with the sympathetic Bill the Pony, the difficulties they're facing on Caradhras. An introspective vignette prompted from the opening verse.

A collection of the various drabbles, dribbles, droubbles, and other fixed-length ficlets I wrote for the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit and posted on my LJ between 2004 and 2010 (and perhaps a few short pieces of unfixed length, if they don't stand well on their own.) Everything here is book-based, and (hopefully) in the spirit of Professor Tolkien's grand epic.

January 13th 3019 (T.A.): The Fellowship has survived its' second night on the mountain, Caradhras, after a bitter snowstorm. Rather than turning back however, they have decided to press on further, ascending higher on the perilous mountain path.
But when the weather turns foul again, Frodo and Legolas are separated from the Company. The two must quickly learn to work together in order to survive the perils of the mountain and rejoin the Fellowship, or else risk the Quest failing altogether.

A "What if Faramir went to Rivendell instead of Boromir?" AU
Faramir travels in Boromir's stead to Imladris, there he joins in the Council of Elrond and becomes part of the Fellowship of the Ring. Similar to Tolkien's own style, the perspective will change back and forth between Faramir's account of events and Boromir's. This fic is my pride and joy and I'm very pleased to present it to all of you!

Orson Scott Card is a homophobic bastard, but he gives good epigram. Here's one of his that's perfect to sum up this little vignette:
"One whose heart has crusted up like a waterbucket on a winter's night.... If you chip the ice it'll freeze up again right away, but if you take it inside, it'll warm up fresh as you please." --Seventh Son
I'm afraid this wound up being innocent cuddly G.
