Short things posted on tumblr about the unstoppable force of James Fitzjames's secret tragedy meeting the immovable mass of Francis Crozier's wrecked soul. Fitzier. (And occasional other things.) Most of those are canon compliant and can be read as missing scenes of a sort.

Naval justice is too good for him, Jopson thinks. The spectacle of a hanging is all an actor like Hickey wants.

    fics for the #transterrorweek event

day 3: and harry looks at him now, drinks the sight of him in, lit in shades of dim green. gore has pulled his scarf down under his chin and is looking at the sky, his face tilted upwards and soft with a sort of childish awe. little more than a whisper harry says, “beautiful. yes, i suppose it is.”

“You’ve accused me of melodrama before, so let me be clear that what I’m about to say now is nothing but the cold hard truth.” Francis fixed James with a forthright stare. “I wish to turn you into a vampire.”

    Summary

Outwardly holding firm, he politely offered his hand.

Instead of accepting it, Edward crossed a fist over his chest, kneeling before him, as if Thomas were the Queen Mother preparing to grant him knighthood.

"My liege," he intoned gravely, looking up at Thomas through a line of dark, full lashes. Bringing himself back to full height, he cracked an embarrassed grin, no doubt at Thomas' surprise. "Sorry, too much?"

    Summary

At night - he still thinks about time for sleep as 'night', even when polar day spreads above him, immeasurable and empty - at night he becomes Terror. He grasps the ice with his anchors, and the snow stays under his fingernails. His ribs are aching, cracking under the slow, blind, unrelenting pressure. One time he wakes up from acute pain in his back, and in those foggy moments between sleeping and waking, when mind threads strange routes, he thinks with certainty - his back aches, because the Terror's mainmast has given in, has broken under the wind and its own weight.

    Summary

    Summary

    Summary

Alone on the tundra, Francis is visited by three ghosts.

One evening in the long night of winter, just after Silna had brought him to the camp, Aglooka had sat across from the angakkuq, fire burning low between them, and learned of angirraqtuq. The word had been unfamiliar to him—someone who comes home, that much made sense, but the way the angakkuq used it was different. He spoke of inuk and tarniq and inuusiq, bodies and souls and lives, how even when inuusiq ended, the soul persisted somewhere beyond here, a brighter world than this one. But things could go wrong, the angakkuq explained, and sometimes inuusiq ended before it should.

    Summary

"I can't say I'm surprised you didn't try for much of a costume, Lieutenant. We can't let the crew in on the fact that you really do have a sense of humour, no matter the great pains you take to conceal it."

Little glanced about, as if to check that they were not within any man's earshot, and said in a low, honeyed voice, "I apologize, Mr. Jopson, for not being appropriately costumed, especially when you yourself have come to us mere mortals guised as an angel. Though, unlike Lieutenant Irving, you have no need for paper wings."
