Galen's a 15-foot extraterrestrial and member of one of Yellowstone's professional search and rescue teams; Holly Mendoza's a 29 year-old "runaway" just getting her new life started in Montana. And while a broken leg in the Beartooth Mountains brings the unlikely pair together, it's when they discover a shared isolation and bitterness between them that they decide to stay in touch.
She finds it easy to open up about her baggage to the near-stranger, but she knows far less about him than she thinks... and it's all Galen can do to keep from telling her the deadly secret of who he really is.
Little do either of them know, though, that it doesn't take full disclosure about extraterrestrials to throw everything they know into chaos.
This is a work of SERIAL FICTION! Meaning, I update this regularly and often: every other Monday, in fact! This story is also posted to JukePop, and to my personal website.
“I won’t accept anyone less than one of the Autumn Elections finalists.” The very thought of allowing a mere student to traipse around his SHINO’s of all places sent a chill to the very marrow of Shinomiya’s bones. But he already knew he had no choice—the pre-opening would be exactly twenty-four hours from now and he was running out of money.
“As you wish.” The woman on the other end hung up, leaving Shinomiya to glare at the door in front of him as if it had done something to personally offend him. As he was right now, he felt confident. Rimmed glasses high up on the bridge of his nose, sliver cross branded across the slope of his collarbone and that steely look in his eyes which practically screamed ‘I’m the owner of this place’. Seeing his faint reflection in the polished glass of the door, he knew that there was no Totsuki student out there who could daunt him.
And then that one Totsuki student walked through that door just seconds later and Shinomiya felt himself getting weak at the knees. His previous confidence was beginning to dissipate as he looked into those eyes, wide eyes which glowed like gold whenever they met his own.
