It’s a gesture that should’ve melted her anger, but it only heightened it. Yet another part tonight that hadn’t made sense. He’s never done that before. The two of them make a habit of arguing who gets to pay the check every time they go out, it’s almost tradition.
“I guess this is for you then,” she gestures toward the multiple twenties left on the table. And at the waiter’s widened eyes, she finally smiles a little. “He’s not a bad guy, you know.”
“I know. He just had a lot riding on tonight.” He explains, collecting the money.
