All these feelings are hard to navigate without a map...
A (positive) rewrite of the campfire scene in the swamp :)Archive warnings are too vague sometimes so CW for my non-fandom friends I'm directing to this: the f slur gets used once, brief descriptions of violence (stabbing, beheading), light physical abuse from a mentor figure, and discussion of r@pe and being a “victim” but no graphic details.

Summary
The world as they know it is gone, but basic human notions of love, comfort and decency are not. Nor is the age-old human tradition of helping and uplifting others. And if the planet has no hope of rising above the scum that rose to the surface after the Flash, they'd all go out drinking whiskey under the stars. But before they resigned to that, they'd try to revive the Olathe they knew before.
Joyful/Hopeful/Pointless crossover born out of me wanting to give Beltboy some love (he deserves it), Grown!Buddy and Five some personality (they deserve it), and Alex and Joel some happiness (they deserve it). I'm a sucker for a good found family story, and with Buddy and Beltboy's families... yeah.
(original title was 'team'. this was changed 9/13/2020.)

In honor of the 1 year anniversary of LISA the Hopeful's release (March 22nd 2017), I made some edits to my alternate vision of Lanks' ending that I originally posted on November 20th. I made some grammar edits because the first version was posted after writing for four hours straight at 2 AM, so it was a little clunky to read at times. I also took some advice from my friend Corah Il Cappo about how to format this piece because it is in a weird space between prose and poetry. After this edit, the writing is a little cleaner but hits harder, I think. Enjoy some more "sad fire hours" :) .

Since a lot of people had their frustrations with this route, me included, I wanted to take a swing at it. It's mostly expanding on the confrontation with Hart and what he was feeling, the change doesn't happen until the very end.
