Magnus was grumpy. Like, really grumpy. The grumpiest he had been in decades. His wrist was broken, his magic was acting up again, and now Alec Lightwood was being a nice, stubborn asshole. Why'd he have to be so nice? And so goddamn stubborn?
From chapter nine:
"Are you ashamed of being queer?" Alec crossed his ankles and tossed the towel over his left shoulder, the fabric draping over him like a tiny half-cape.Magnus waved his good hand quickly in front of him. "No! Absolutely not." Not anymore, at least. Magnus had long since accepted that side of himself, had even indulged in a few relationships with people of different genders, until they fell through for one reason or another (which was usually Magnus fucking something up). It wasn't about being ashamed at all. It was about being afraid.
Alec crossed his arms over his chest and narrowed his eyes as he studied Magnus' face. It wasn't a judgmental or accusing expression, but one of more concern than anything else. "But you're not proud of it."
