    Summary

CRASH! Bilbo’s head shot up from where he was sorting the paperwork and in an instant, he was running from the study. He barely made it into the living room when he froze and gasped.

Fíli was on the floor in a crumpled heap next to the low table. Bilbo hurried to his side, kneeling down on the cold stone floor. He pulled Fíli into his arms and shook the prince as carefully as he could, eyes going wide at the bleeding gash on his forehead that was staining blond locks deep red. Fíli didn’t stir, he didn’t wake.

“SOMEBODY HELP!” Bilbo screamed, holding Fíli as close as he could.

When a sickness descends upon Erebor and the princes fall dangerously ill, their only hope is that the main ingredient in the medicine required, a flower that only grew in the lonely mountain, had survived Smaug. With lives at stake, the fate of the princes and of the kingdom falls onto the shoulders of one hobbit, who tries to juggle caring for his nephews, comforting his love and future sister-in-law, and proving to the mountain that he was more than just an outsider.

    Summary

Hobbits had no need for royalty and no love for complexity. They were a simple folk with simple tastes, accustomed to the sunlit pastures of the Shire over the austere halls of Mountains.

Never had this been more apparent following the Reclaim of Erebor. Thorin was now King Under the Mountain and his Company revered among all. In Dwarven Kingdoms, of course, hierarchies were hallowed.

Naturally, Bilbo did not subscribe to such beliefs, and it landed him in a world of trouble.

    *-*-*

Or: In which Bilbo speaks his mind, trampling all over Hobbit decorum and Dwarf Laws in the process. Thorin gets a stern talking to (King Under the Mountain or not) and takes great offence. And the Company, naturally, place bets on how long it will take for these two knuckleheads to sort their mess out.

    Summary

Thorin was at a loss. He was a monster slayer. A killer of all evil creatures who prey on humanity. Including vampires. Especially vampires. He hated vampires. He wouldn't be content until he eradicated every last one of the foul beings.

So what in Mahal's name was he doing sitting here in a dusty armchair next to a cold hearth drinking tea (of all things!) with a (admittedly rather cute) vampire. The same vampire that he came to this old castle to kill.

    Summary

The hobittesses have trained their birds since time immemorial. It is a secret craft, passed from mother to bairn, that is treasured along with harvest and hole and hearth. In their trade between Ered Luin and Erebor in the far east, this craft is noticed and revered by Durin’s folk. The Queen, Dris mother of Dis, decides that this skill would be the next craft for her, after crippling her dominant hand in the forge. Seeking the best teacher she finds herself & her daughter ensconced in Bag End, under the tutelage of one Belladonna Baggins nee Took; Talon of the Shire. Like small pebbles starting an avalanche, the friendship of two mothers, and their children, would change the fates of their two families.

    Summary

Thorin and Company have finally reached a safe house after a few crazy weeks on the road. After three days of goblins, orcs, and a massive bear that's chased them into the home of one of Gandalf's acquaintances the Company is quite exhausted and quite tired of surprises. Unfortunately for them, or fortunately there is another staying there.

Master Baggins is not who the Company expected to find, especially when he claims to be one of the only outsiders Durin allowed a title and a rank to. Although that's the least surprising thing about him.

Thorin makes some discoveries and has some observations.

Basically an AU where Bilbo is a skinchanger and the Company meet him at Beorn's on accident.

And here they were in the land of halflings, in the home of a gentle hobbit who looked like he had never worked a hard day in his life. What was that blasted wizard thinking?! And why was the hobbit acting so . . peculiar? Who needed a bloody walking stick in their own home?! And what was up with his . . . wait. Mahal's beard! Was the hobbit really blind?! Thorin was going to have words with a certain wizard.

    Summary

There was something in the way he moved- fast and sure, confident in his abilities. Bilbo Baggins may have been but a Hobbit- a creature of gentle nature- but there were very few things Thorin knew about this Hobbit for certain. That he could fight, up until now, had not been one of them.

    And yet.

This Hobbit, who should have no experience with a blade, danced around his opponents with an ease, although somewhat sloppy, but his form was the least of his worries at the moment, befitting of a warrior.

Somewhere, somehow, his little burglar had learned to fight. The thought sent shivers down his spine, for what in Arda would a simple Hobbit need a sword for?

Getting thrown through time is fun right? Getting thrown through time and ending up 30 years prior to when those blasted dwarrow show up on her doorstep should be wonderful no? It's not. It's really not. It's not like Bilbo has a choice though. She'll try her damned hardest to make everything end well. Even if it breaks her.

    Summary

Britchled was an excellent planner, a perfect planner, a magnificent planner. She kept meticulous notes in a neat diary. Her home could never be considered to be anything but the most orderly smial in the Shire. At least when she was living in it.
She filled her appointment book by the month, never leaving a relative an opportunity to come calling where she could not throw them out, pleading some prior engagement. It enraged Lobelia Sackville-Baggins to no end. Her library was organized in the same manner as the one in Imladris, allowing Britchled a stunning efficiency in her research. Even her bed was organized as the halfling never so much as kicked her sheets off due to how tightly they were pinned by the mattress. There was never a button, a bit of cloth, a piece of her strange, straight, white hair out of place when she was within the Shire. She would be the perfect image of a gentle hobbit if it were not for the times the entire Shire saw her returning, dirty, boney and worn in her great blue cloak from some adventure.
Wizards pupil, they called her, though she hadn’t seen a wizard since she was twenty.
The truth of the matter was; Britchled was even better at flying by the seat of her pants.

    Summary

And so came it to pass that Durin the Deathless, First of Dwarrow-kind, the Eldest of the Seven Fathers, King of Khazad-dûm, found himself unrelentingly bound to a small chunk of blue stone pocketed by one Belladonna Took on her journey home from a well accomplished adventure.

Years, and multiple adventures later, Belladonna Took – by then Belladonna Baggins – settled into Bag End, and gave birth to a child named Bilbo Baggins, to whom this stone was always meant to belong.

It is with this one small Hobbit that the ghostly Durin is to change the tides of Middle Earth, save his legacy, and rewrite this unwritten history before them.

Additionally/And/Or: In which Durin the Deathless does not accept the finality of his lineage and submits his complaints to Mahal and Yavanna.

Becoming glued to a rock and a Hobbit was not part of his request, but he was Too Vague and forgot to Read the Fine Print.

Also, Hobbits are far too endearing even to Ancient Mostly Dead Monarchs.

Finally, and most importantly, to any Dwarf asking, it isn't technically breaking any rules if the ghost beside you works as a translator for super secret Dwarvish languages.

    Summary

In the Shire there were two truths. The Tooks were odd and the Baggins were respectable. The Baggins family dealt in contracts and favours, and while the Shire knew that the Tooks were odd, it was the Baggins family that had other blood running through their veins.
Bilbo Baggins did not go running out his door for want of an adventure, he went running out his door because of a terribly worded contract and a laughable quest that somehow held the spark of other.
In this story, it is not the Tooks that held fae blood in their family tree, it is the Baggins, and theirs is so much closer to the surface.

At one point in their life, all Dwarrow feel The Calling, the need to create something special for their One. Nori was a thief; his craft was to steal things. Somehow he doubted that particular combination would work out, and that didn’t even begin to account for Hobbits and Dragons.

    Summary

    Excerpt:
The being who opens the door, for they could not be a Halfling when they are so different from their peers, meets his gaze steadily. Their eyes are the only thing Thorin can focus on; a brilliant green, golden flecks surrounding the pupil as age beyond this creature’s years are reflected back to him.

But beyond that there is something familiar, something that makes Thorin’s chest ache as he remembers the body Dwalin had cradled as he apologized to Thorin again and again for his failure. They’re the same eyes he’d stared into every afternoon for sparring since he was a pebble, the eyes that had hovered above his own in protection as dragon fire raged around them, the same eyes he’d seek out when the days began to weigh on him, the same eyes he’d pictured darkening or turning away from him were he to ever confess one of his deepest secrets, and the same eyes he’d seen dim and lifeless as he lost his only chance to ever tell them of his regard. He knows those eyes, but he does not know the creature they’re attached to.

Bilbo has been reincarnated since the beginning of Arda, this is the only time he's remembered.

    Summary

The Line of Durin fell, and Bilba Baggins felt as if she fell along with them.

Unable to find peace upon returning to the Shire, she takes to the road and spends her life alone, fighting to protect the weak, training in futility to fight a battle long since won, and to save those long since buried under stone.

Her road is a lonely one, but one she feels she deserves for her failures to save the ones she loved.

    The One, she loved.

She once thought she would find peace in death, and in the hope of seeing those she loved in the afterlife, but it seems even that is to be denied her, for as her eyes close in death, they open again - to find herself back in Bag End.

And the date on the calendar is the day a wizard once appeared, and asked her to join in on an adventure.
