"There's no living here, dear," The creature confessed, tapping a seemingly black painted nail to his smirking lips playfully, "No beating hearts or working lungs."

"Why are you looking at me as if though I've been an unfaithful husband?" Zhou Zishu asked, taking a sip from the jug as if though Wen Kexing did not see what had just occurred, "You look like a cheated wife."
"Aren't I?" Wen Kexing scowled, bristling in anger, "You think I didn't notice you caress that shameless man's hand? Your indulgence of his flirtations? If you want him so much then go spend the rest of your short life with him!"

Zhou Zishu is about to open his mouth to retort, but he pauses and thinks. Two years. Maybe it is good enough. Maybe two years of freedom, instead of a lifetime of more violence, is a blessing. Two years and then, when Helian Yi comes for him, he can just end himself instead of being taken back.
