    Summary

"But when dark things come from the houseless hills, or creep from sunless woods, they fly from us. What roads would any dare to tread, what safety would there be in quiet lands, or in the homes of simple men at night, if the Dúnedain were asleep, or were all gone to the grave?"

    FOTR: The Council of Elrond

“Here are some of my own kin from the far land where I dwelt,” said Aragorn and yet we know so little of his kin or his life among them. The men of the Grey Company did not spring fully formed from the grass. They had mothers, fathers, and kin, surely. Who crafted their gear, sheltered them when young, fed them, and wove their clothing?

The Rangers of the North were few in number and the Wilds over which they ranged was vast. When Aragorn commanded they turn from their other duties to protect the Shire, who must they then leave undefended? What price then did the Dúnedain of the North pay?

As seen through the eyes of a woman of the Lord of the Dúnedain’s house, this is an attempt at a tale of the Northlands in the years of Aragorn’s efforts to preserve the Free Peoples of Middle Earth.

    Summary

~ TA1400. As the Shadow of Angmar engulfs Arnor, its people turn to seek aid from alliances of old. Nienor, the sole remaining representative of a minor House, finds herself alone in a foreign land with strange customs.

Legolas/OC though NOT a slow burn, this path is a little different. Events loosely follow the timeline of the TA. Much angst and heavy (and I do mean HEAVY) on the romance.

All recognizable characters, names, references and events belong to the Tolkien trust. This is purely for enjoyment and not profit.

    Summary

Elrond single-handedly saved the Dúnedain of the North from extinction after the Fall of Arnor. What drove the Lord of Rivendell to this remarkable act of charity? Was it truly because their Chieftains were Elros’ great great great - insert another 30 greats - grandsons?

Fíriel, the last Queen of Arnor, wasn't willing to take any chances.

The tale of how an unexpected, but not unwelcome visitor presented Fíriel with one sinful opportunity to get away with the inconceivable...

    Summary

This short fic represents a late night thought process from several years ago. What was Carn-Dûm, the kingdom the Witch King took over in order to destroy Arnor in the appendices of the Lord of the Rings, like as a kingdom before he took it over? What would that takeover look like to its people - if anyone were lucky enough to survive long enough to describe it? What would that look like, again, to a resident of Arnor, under attack from this great northern threat? And so, I invented a princess. A princess, and an unnamed girl with a journal.

    Summary

35 years after the War of the Ring, the children of the heroes must go on their own quest to save Middle Earth yet again, but this time it's from one of their own. Follow the children of Miril (OC- the Other Ranger) and Elrohir, Aragorn and Arwen, Eowyn and Faramir, and Eomer and Lothiriel as they journey from Rohan and Gondor back to the North where dark forces are gathering for a new assault. Cousins and friends unite as they travel through a different Middle Earth now that the rings are gone.

And no one comes out unscathed.

See Middle Earth like never before as we explore the beginnings of the Fourth Age when Lothlorien is abandoned, Rivendell is mostly empty, the Reunited Kingdom is strong, Annuminas rebuilt, the Ents are in control of Isengard, and Harad is at peace with Gondor/Arnor. Even Moria isn't the same.

Sequel to The Other Ranger, but easily standalone.

    Summary

Many people have asked throughout the years, what if Elrond and Cirdan forced Isildur to destroy the One Ring immediately after Sauron's death? At first this would seem like a great decision, but the long-term consequences would in fact have been disastrous. In this canonverse AU, written in the style of The Silmarillion, we shall see what would have become of Middle-earth had the Ring been cast into the fires of Mount Doom just after the defeat of Sauron.

    Summary

This is a bit of exploration of the history of Arnor inspired by the following passage in the Appendices:

"A great host came out of Angmar in 1409, and crossing the river entered Cardolan and surrounded Weathertop. The Dunedain were defeated and Arveleg was slain. The tower of Amon Sul was burned and razed; but the palantir was saved and carried back in retreat to Fornost, Rhudaur was occupied by evil Men subject to Angmar, and the Dunedain that remained there were slain or fled west. Cardolan was ravaged. Araphor son of Arveleg was not yet full grown, but he was valiant, and with aid from Cirdan he repelled the enemy from Fornost and the North Downs. A remnant of the faithful among the Dunedain of Cardolan also held out in Tyrn Gorthard (the Barrowdowns), or took refuge in the Forest behind.

"It is said that Angmar was for a time subdued by the Elvenfolk coming from Lindon; and from Rivendell for Elrond brought help over the Mountains out of Lorien." (pg. 359)

Some of the details have been toyed with to try to fill in the blanks between what happened.

    Summary

Long before Aragorn, there was another son of both royal lines who wandered the Wilds of Eriador. Prince Aranarth of Arthedain has lost his mother, father, brother, and city. He survived the Witch-King's attack, and returned to defeat Angmar outside of Fornost with Gondor's help, but at what price? What befell the exiles of Numenor as they abandoned their city for camps in the wilderness? How did they become so feared in their own land?

This is a series of adventures and snapshots of the life of Aranarth, Heir of Isildur, and first Chieftain of the North. Featuring: soldiers learning how to become Rangers, elves teaching men, dwarves becoming neighbors, hobbits being hobbits, Bree-landers being oblivious, wights, orcs, and beasts attacking, Gandalf playing with fire, and the Dunedain of the North adjusting to their new lives.
