Summary
His younger brother stood straight, composed in his blue accented finery every bit the young Lord of Caelum. There was a small downturn to his lips. He was likely judging Ardyn’s simple linen shirt and brown wooly trousers, but Ardyn should hardly look fit for a banquet in the privacy of his study while he was working.
The moment of judgement passed and Somnus threw a stack of parchment on his desk - the Six be thanked far away from knocking over the remedy he’d been mixing.
“Never thought I’d see the day you had competition, Brother,” Somnus said tightly.

Alternatively: Noct and Ardyn try their best to annoy Somnus to death. -

Summary
It would be very tempting to just lie down here and let himself rot. Ardyn knows he can do that; after everything he has been through, it would be easy. The world does not want Ardyn Izunia and he does not want it in return.
But there’s a tiny, flickering part of him that has never fully been suppressed, not by the Scourge nor even the gods themselves. There’s a taste in his mouth that has never faded, a thirst that has never been satisfied. A deep, instinctive, human thing, that tastes of curiosity, that thirsts for something new.
Ardyn Izunia survives, and learns to live again.

Summary
When Tenebrae fell at the hands of the Empire seventeen years ago, Prince Noctis was lost to his father and kingdom, and declared dead a short time later. Amidst the rubble of the Oracle's homeland, Chancellor Ardyn Izunia spirited the boy away to Gralea to be remade as a means for his revenge against the gods: A weapon of war, and inheritor to the Starscourge plaguing Eos.
Now, with King Regis' health rapidly declining, and Emperor Aldercapt on edge in the war against Lucis, Noctis' time to is nigh, and he must make a choice: Remain a hand of the Niflheim Empire, or return to Insomnia and rise as the Chosen King.

Summary
Keeping the blade tight against Ignis’s throat, I gesture with my free hand. “This place and all you see beyond? They’re sacred mysteries. You must be worthy of them.”
“I fail to see how surrendering has anything to do with that.” The way he focuses despite the moonwhite break of light behind his eyes would terrify a lesser man. “Nor is that knife of yours inspiring much reason to do so.”
Ardyn has a plan that may save his and Noctis's lives, but he needs to bring everyone into the fold.

Summary
“Look at us,” he says, pulling himself up to sit on the desk. “I’m not even thirty yet. It’s a good thing I’m not supposed to be King long, I wouldn’t even last.”
“Noct,” Ignis says, reproachful.
“What? C’mon, Specs. Denying it isn’t going to make it easier.” He leans forward, and reaches out to touch Ignis’s face.
Ignis holds Noctis’s hand in place. “Are you not angry?”
Noctis could be. There’s a lot of reasons to rage at the gods. But when he reaches for it, the injustice, the unfairness, there’s nothing there. “Not anymore.”

Summary
It has been six years since the Wave destroyed the Starscourge and Ardyn, Somnus, and Aera found a blue-eyed stranger in the wilderness. The future is bright for the House of Lucis Caelum and the House of Nox Fleuret, and the brothers are happy.
But for Deleantur, it is still hard to settle down when all of his future exists in what was once his past, and the new developments among the kingdoms that might one day be only known as Lucis, are to him the old news of dusty history books and unwanted memories.
So when a Messenger of the Astrals leads him to the wild, untamed shores of Galahd, Deleantur follows in hopes of something new to entertain himself with for a few months before going back to Somnus and Ardyn.
He should have known better than to trust that the Astrals didn't have bigger plans in store for him there than that.

Summary
Still, the grand culprit, Noctis reminds himself, is not Ardyn.
It’s the overgrown lizard hiding behind the protection of the Crystal.
Noctis can’t waste time like this. He has to figure out how to break open that hunk of rock or draw out Bahamut before Niflheim invades Lucis under the guise of a ceasefire. More importantly, he has to devise a way to even kill Bahamut. He has no covenants on his side, not even any Royal Arms. He could, maybe, try to talk Aldercapt into tomb-raiding, but that’s a far-fetched idea at this point. Ardyn, though, could probably require less convincing, but of course this is Ardyn he’s thinking of.

Summary
When the Astrals discovered what exactly Ardyn had done in his last encounter with the Chosen King, they were furious. Outraged to the brims of their vile souls. But no matter how pissed off they were with his scam, Ardyn didn’t care: their foul game shouldn’t end with Noctis’ death. And if it meant he had to trap the King inside the ever beautiful dream to keep him alive, he would do it without hesitation. Eternity couldn’t bother the immortal.

Summary
Ardyn was there when Regis’ son was born. Unfortunately, he was no longer a glorified Healer and couldn’t save Aulea, but the boy survived and got the name Noctis — Ardyn’s suggestion.
Ardyn was there when the holy Astrals sent messengers, a whole bunch of them, to claim Noctis their property. They thought they could boss the mere mortals (and one immortal) around as they wished. To even greater distress, they were right, and there was nothing Ardyn or anyone else could do against it. Except for not keeping the boy in the dark about his fate — Ardyn was stubborn enough to ignore Regis’ frets.
And now, under the yet burning sun, they took everything their lives offered to them, and such time-wasting triviality as official speech shouldn’t stand on their way.Series

Summary
Every new loop Ardyn found himself in he anticipated to see Noctis happy, and sometimes his prayers came true – and then they met. What happened more often, what happened every time, was Noctis’ look in the end. The same look he gave Ardyn before inflicting the final strike, which would cut off this loop and start another.
Lying on the square near the Citadel, Ardyn knew what he would see if turning to Noctis.
He really did have a habit of losing things, and now he was about to lose again.Series
