Sam’s been drinking hard about it all night, and he just can’t help being hurt and angry about the way Castiel rejected his advances. He hadn’t really expected Castiel to say yes. But he definitely hadn’t expected to feel humiliated afterward either. Dean’s had enough of angry, drunk Sammy, and brings them together to talk.

Summary
As she watches Mary tear off her shirt and bra, her breasts bared before Anna’s gaze with a bounce, Anna admits that she can’t find it in herself to curse her past humanity too much.
John is removing his clothes too. Anna ignores him, as she’s ignored him the other 27 times she’s watched Mary and John have sex over the course of her surveillance.
A slight AU of "The Song Remains the Same." Instead of trying to kill the Winchesters immediately, Anna spends some time spying on them instead. She develops an obsession with one Mary Winchester.

Summary
“If you’re talking about the time you ate all those souls…you had to be stopped, Cas.”
“I agree,” Castiel shrugged, “But would you have tried to kill me if I was a human and had caused such chaos?”
A muscle in Dean’s jaw rippled, “We don’t deal with humans, that’s what the cops are for!”
“Dean…” Sam admonished softly, looking stricken.
Dean blinked, stunned by his own words. “I mean…I didn’t mean –“
Castiel swallowed, closing his eyes against a lance of pain in his chest that had nothing to do with the binding or the sigil. “Yes, you did. And its true, in any case.” Castiel gave him an out, but the words stung. He wasn’t human. Which meant he was – in a hunter’s mind – a creature.
An animal.
Something inside him felt like it was icing over...

In which Naomi is the one who has her grace extracted by Metatron and Castiel falls to earth, ending up so much worse for wear, it’s never been more obvious that they were an angel, and this doesn’t sit well with everyone, especially Sam and Dean.

Summary
Angels have never been big on the whole gender thing. Back in the day ("the day", of course, being the sixth day, when humanity was just coming into creation), there was none of that - there were Angels and there were Mortals, and there was no use defining anything further than that. The two first mortals were given the capability to reproduce because, quite frankly, life would be awfully boring if there were only two sentient beings on the planet at a time - and some angels cautiously followed suit, self-actualising into forms they preferred, whether it included a broad stretch of shoulders or a delicate waist.
Lucifer, predictably, grinned past the bitterness in its throat, the knowledge that the angels could only choose due to the freedom that it fought for, due to Samael's sacrifice - and then delighted itself in playing with the concept, chewing each pronoun to savour the taste, tying its robes in every which way and delighting in the different words each mortal used for it.
[ or: Neil Gaiman confirmed that Lucifer uses any pronouns - if you must use pronouns - and I, being me, applied it to the version of the character he had the least say on. Enjoy. ]

Dean Winchester’s soul was the deep black of an oil spill, only flashes of green and gold remaining to reflect the humanity it had once held.

Summary
His hand crushed the plastic as the screen flickered on.
“What the hell?” Dean’s voice carried over from the bed as the strode over, Sam on his heels.
“Jesus,” Sam breathed, hand instinctively reaching for his laptop as he turned to open his bag.
On the TV, in the center of the screen, was the censored picture of a jumbled mess of ivory and maroon, clearly not human anymore as the limbs contorted in unnatural positions, unnerving even Castiel as his eyes flicked away briefly. Next to it was a comparison picture, the little boy they had seen a few hours ago on the news, grinning sunnily at his demise. Red text sprawled across the screen, confirming their suspicions.
Body found: cause of death unknown.

Summary
Castiel had know about the Winchester family line for centuries. They were an archangel bloodline, everyone knew about them. He just didn't care. There were better things to do than worry about Winchesters, such as fighting demons. It wasn't until all of the Earthly Garrison were called back to Heaven to prepare for the Apocalypse that Castiel took notice of the brothers, watching from above as he waited for orders.
Unexpectedly, he found himself growing quite fond of Dean. Enough so that other angels begin to notice and comment. After rescuing Dean from Hell, Castiel continued to grow closer to him, despite the warnings.
Of course, these things never run smoothly. Particularly when love is involved.
