Summary
Honestly, his life was a wreck. Crash and boom and burn, baby. Skid marks on the pavement outside a school in Whitefield.
Eliot — should have known better. Should have known what he could and couldn’t handle. Should have seen the signs that he was being too open with his fucking feelings, spilling his broken shit everywhere, letting it boil over because he was too goddamn scared of being burned to hold the lid down himself. Well, guess what. It boiled over. The pot’s dry. His shit spilled and now they’re all sitting in the mess he’s made.
And best of all? It’s the funniest fucking thing that’s ever happened to him.
But worst of all? No one else gets the goddamn joke.
Well. No one except maybe —

Summary
Quentin and Eliot are ready to retire from saving the world and magical crises, but they have one last mess to fix - saving another Quentin from beyond the grave.
But they won't be doing it alone, not when another Eliot has been working with Alice Quinn toward the same end. Not when both their timelines' magic is a mess, and the two Fillorys aren't much better.
One last mess is more complicated than they expected.

Summary
Nothing could have prepared Eliot for the grief he would feel when he woke up. Waking up in a world such as this, a world without Quentin Coldwater, was something that no one could have readied Eliot for. At first, he couldn’t possibly believe it. Quentin, he couldn’t be dead… No, he was Quentin. He was supposed to live. Eliot had felt - numb and petrified and heartbroken.
As soon as he was discharged from the infirmary, he felt immediately drawn to the liquor cabinet. But Margo kept him together, smacking him upside the head and snapping that ‘Quentin wouldn’t want that’. But how the fuck could she know? Because Quentin was dead. He was dead and gone, and for some reason no one was trying to do anything about it.
or; Eliot wakes up, finds out that Quentin is dead, grieves a bit, before diving headfirst into finding a way to bring him back.

Summary
They say grief comes in stages: a riptide of denial, a hurricane of anger. Bargaining, depression, acceptance. They can come in any order, but Eliot hadn’t felt a single one. All he could feel was the humming, and the longing. And something deep in every chamber of his heart that told him Quentin wasn’t gone.
Or, the one where Eliot is sorta Icarus and Quentin is sorta the sun.

[Post episode S05E12: The Balls]
What had happened next, had been weird. Like... really weird, even for their standards. Almost comically weird. For starters, Santa Claus had rescued them. Yes, the Santa Claus. Complete with reindeer-drawn sleigh. Before vanishing in the night, he had also left them an early Christmas morning, with a huge Christmas tree, candy canes and a present each. Except for Eliot. Then shit had happened, and really, he didn't care that much.
But he should know by now that every quest ends with a reward, even for him, even when it seems impossible.Series

Summary
post 4x13 canon divergent (literally throw the whole fifth season in the trash)
would you trust in a light that you cannot see?
It is said, when you move on, that you go to where you are needed most but sometimes where you are needed most is exactly where you left in the first place.
While the Dark King has reduced the kingdom of Fillory to ashes, Eliot recovers from his wounds at the Mosaic Cottage, Margo is on the war path for her throne, Julia searches for her true purpose, Alice tries to fix everything she broke with a little help, Kady stands on the frontlines, and Quentin tries his very best to make it back home, but it proves to be more challenging than any warning could've predicted. Magic is unpredictable, causing disruptions and devastations across the universe and there is only one person who may be able to make it right.
Spoiler: this story will have a happy ending.

Alice has a bad idea that springs from good intentions. A way to share the load of working through the grief of the loss of a partner, with the only other person who knows exactly how she feels. Q loved both of them, her AND Eliot. And they both loved him.

Summary
Eliot’s pain was a hollow thing. For weeks during his recovery he’d been too numb to feel it, the emptiness growing inside, but once he finally could he’d spent a not insignificant amount of time wondering if the Monster had taken his shade. It made sense, sort of, aside from all those times that he couldn’t stop crying. It was like someone had come along and scraped out all the goodness he’d had left. There was nothing now. Just a deep, pulsing blackness where once there had been so much light.
aka the one where Eliot is so desperate to bring Quentin back he's willing to do almost anything, even if that means losing himself in the process. Canon divergent after 4x13.

Summary
Eliot Waugh is the Prince of Brakebills University, living without a care in the world. That is, until his platonic soulmate finds love, thanks to his definitely-not-unintentional matchmaking. It was a big change, but all’s well that ends well and he’s happy for Margo and Julia. You know. Mostly.
But no one likes a renowned hedonist who focuses on his inner maudlin blah. So instead, Eliot opts to invest his energy into taking a new girl under his wing. She's dorky, intense, fresh off a year-long sojourn at Brakebills South... and in desperate need of fun.
What a lucky young lady that Alice Quinn is.
(Or: Unabashedly Queer “Emma,” at Brakebills.)

Summary
Season 1 AU. Premise: Quentin and Alice got together at Brakebills South, things went poorly for Eliot with Mike, and instead of kind of being too wrapped up in themselves to be there for El after he has to kill Mike, Quentin and Alice comforted Eliot. This fixes just about everything. No one else has to die, everything’s good. Nothing is bad. Except Quentin’s very high school fashion sense and Alice’s self-conscious grasp of proportionizing.
This is just a very silly little story about Eliot taking his boyfriend Quentin and his girlfriend Alice back to school shopping so they can be as outwardly fabulous and sexy as they are inwardly. It's ridiculous. It has no point. It's fluff. It was, in fact, supposed to be a drabble, but prettychaos is not known for its short fics.

Summary
A simple rule of the Universe: once someone has died, you must never attempt to bring them back. Must not. Not cannot. The existence of the principle implies the possibility; there’d be no need to create rules for an impossible thing.
Quentin Coldwater steps through a door, and thus ends his story. But the story for the others is only beginning, and Alice and Eliot aren’t about to take it lying down.
Or: the road to hell turns out to be paved with good intentions, soul-searching, and maybe a sacrifice or two.
