The buzz in the audience was palpable, waiting for the first line to be spoken, for the action to really begin. It took all of Alex’s strength not to look out over the audience, the first three rows were so close to the stage in this theatre that she could make out their faces, etched with excitement and anticipation. This was way she had become an actress.

Alex was late.
Someone being late to the Doctor Who tableread was a common enough occurrence that Steven threatened to quit at least once a week, but Alex was never late. It was unusual; so much so that Matt felt a niggling weight settle in his stomach that was not a result of the hangover he was nursing that morning.

Summary
It’s a rather unassuming notebook, really. Just a small mint green moleskine that looks pretty well-worn around the edges, as though someone’s spent quite a lot of time writing in it. It’s sitting by itself on the otherwise empty table, and Matt tries resolutely to ignore it. He has the best intentions, honestly, because it’s not his notebook. In fact, he doesn’t know whose notebook it is, and he does quite a good job of ignoring it for the first few minutes he’s alone with it. Doesn’t even consider inching down the table and picking it up to peruse its contents. Doesn’t even cross his mind, really.

Instead of words, as expected, Matt’s question was met with a series of sneezes, each one coming more forcefully and at accelerating decibels. He turned from the mirror he was fixing his hair in and glanced over his shoulder to where a red-nosed and heavily congested Alex lounged lifelessly in their bed. He turned to face her properly and shot her a sympathetic grimace. “Bless you. You got that much, huh?”
