1 Work in 9 1/2 Weeks (1986)

[410/4/3] (20). 9 1/2 Weeks is a masterpiece. In the USA it is grossly underrated and under appreciated. Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger both should have received awards, at least Golden Globes but many awards, for their performances. And the director too. And the soundtrack. There is no better sound tract than that of 9 1/2 Weeks. There just isn’t. The director Adrian Lyne cut and recut the film ‘til it worked. It is based on a book. But it transcends the book. The costumes worn may be out of sequence occasionally but that is due to the cutting and reassembling of the film. The cinematography is wonderful, the soundtrack is excellent. The movie deserves a renaissance. It is exquisite. Truly a masterpiece.
In thinking about the movie, and the characters, I wondered what might happen if Elizabeth and John met up many many years later having never seen each other in the time in between. This is my sequel to 9 1/2 Weeks - apologies to Mr. Lyne.
