((yes this fic is named after a Mother Mother song, I associate the song with Anna and Lemon Demon/Monster)).
Whenever a Monster feels a connection to a human, they grow attached, the most common form of this attachment is guardianship, in which the Monster protects the human, and vice versa. Sometimes, they will even form a Platonic or a familial bond, most often seen in humanoid monsters. When the attachments are made, the monster will want to make sure its human lives a long and happy life, and will grieve once the human dies, sometimes to the point of which the monster itself dies from heartache. This is why a romantic attachment is the most deadly, as no matter what, the monster will usually die not long after it's human does.
Levin can not explain why he feels this way for Anna, he doesn't what to feel this way for Anna, he knows that it will only leave to his eventual death, but, the more he thinks about it, living a long and happy life with Anna, and then dying after her doesn't sound to bad.
tldr; LD has a crush on Anna and has conflicted feelings about it.
