"Yeah,” he drawls. “I’m that nurse who sews guys like you back together when you’ve hit your head on the sink because you were so drunk that you couldn’t piss without falling down. And guess what? I don’t give a fuck if you were drunk or in a car accident, because I treat every patient like a person instead of acting to my fucking prejudice.”
“It’s 2018, pal,” he says. “And I’m an Army vet, a nurse, and still better dressed than you. So wake the fuck up and go rethink your life choices and your fragile masculinity. Fuckity bye.”

Sometimes, terrible things must be done for the survival of humanity. After the battle with Knifehead, the official report reads that both pilots perished, while Gipsy Danger is repurposed into a new, more monstrous type of Jaeger. Years later, odd happenings begin to occur at Oblivion Bay and various Shatterdomes around the world, leaving Chuck Hansen with more than a few questions that no one is willing to answer.

Coming back to this fic after a while, and it remains to be as awesome as the first time around. Worth reading for sheer plot potential and characterisation.
Body Horror coming from this angle will never get old. There's something that hits all the primal fear notes in the human brain when you think about transferring human identity and sentience into a machine against a person's will. Especially when there's a chance that there isn't a body to return to in the end.
