Tia walked over the heap of corpses nonchalantly, her eyes still as cold and unfeeling as Jieun remembered, but she approached Jieun and offered her hand. “You shouldn’t be sitting on the floor, Your Majesty. It will ruin your beautiful dress.” Cold, cold, cold; but Jieun expected nothing else. Aristia La Monique had been deemed as the Ice Queen, lowly second wife to the Emperor who was granted none of his affections, during her lifetime and was heralded as the Should-be Empress after her death. Jieun took her hand and pulled her into a hug, grossly sobbing on Tia’s shoulder.
“I-I could have died,” she sobbed miserably.
Tia was stiff for a few seconds, but then she put away her sword and hugged Jieun in return. “I know. It must have hurt,” Tia replied with a whisper.
She should know… she had lost her head on a guillotine before.
