A university AU, but in actuality there is very little to do with university life. Marked as explicit, but in actuality not very sexy. It is very likely that I will never finish this, but I thought it would be a waste not to post it. My apologies for all of the above.

I started writing this before I reread the series. Somehow I had forgotten the rather major fact that *neither of them goes to high school in canon*! So I was not aware that this was an AU at the time I was writing it. After I reread the series, I gave some thought to what kind of story I actually wanted to tell, abandoned this one, and got to work on what I am currently writing: Boku no Go. If you see some similarities between this one and that, it's because I stole some general ideas and even a few exact lines.

One day a new student joins Hikaru’s class. Fujiwara Sai is unlike anyone else he has ever met, and also the unlikeliest person to become Hikaru’s best friend, but still this happens.
As for Sai, making a friend like Hikaru is one of the best things that has ever happened to him. Once he also meets Touya Akira, his life could almost be perfect – if only he could convince his parents to allow him to become a pro go player. But he is going to need the support of all his friends when he discovers something that has been kept secret from him his entire life.
