Summary
In one world, Aladdin tricked the Genie into freeing him from the Cave of Wonders and then proceeded to make one crazed wish followed by an unconscious second wish. He then nearly blew up everything because he didn’t follow through on his promise, was overly emotional, impulsive and scared, and got bit in the ass for it. It was only through a series of (frankly, miraculous) events that he conquered and restored everything back to normal that he’d toppled.
This is not that world.

Noble guests arrive to honour Fadl from far and wide, including Fadl's old comrade-in-arms, the Chinese warlord Li Lau. As tension mounts between the guests and their conflicting interests, Jaffar struggles to keep the peace; that, and he also has a nervous wife to calm down. Thankfully, he knows just the right means to achieve both: magic, and his skill as a lover.

Fresh from their bath, Jaffar comes to embrace Yassamin from behind; his perfumes wrap about her gently, enfolding her in their dark voluptuousness, his firm and loving care. He nuzzles the perfumes from her damp hair in turn, the jasmine and roses a caress of fragrance swirling sweetly from his lungs into his hips.
"Come to bed," he says, his hands warm upon her stomach, his fingertips playing softly in the dip between her belly and her sex.
Yet, she tarries in a tease, pretending to squirm a little in protest; she smiles at him through her reflection in the glass, adoring the way his eyes spark in delight at this, the way his lips part to reveal his crooked teeth.
He lifts his hands to her breasts; through her nightdress, he can feel her nipples are hard against his palms. "I said, 'come to bed,' wife."

"Only I am cursed," Jaffar spits, "that I can see only you!"
He buries his face in her breasts and she screams; yet, in that panicked moment, Yassamin realises she is again free to move. She springs free, but he closes his arms around her; the fever of his body against hers far more horrendous a sensation than the touch of his magic had been.
"Let go of me!" she shrieks, the silks of her wedding gown tearing; she would rather die than be his. The door is there, the sea is there, the gateway to her freedom in death; even the hell of suicides preferable to the hell of his bed.
Yet he clings to her, clutching at her, staring at her a madman. "Never!" he cries, his voice thick from his passion; "Never."
She draws back her arm and slaps him with all her might; the noise he makes is horrendous, animal. She kicks and screams for her freedom, yet Jaffar becomes even madder, now, sinking the claws of his fingers into her waist. And to her astonishment, he is smiling of all things--no, leering with his eyes wide open, his mouth the drooling maw of a beast, his teeth jagged above a tongue panting, gleaming red.
"Do that again," he rasps.
"What?!" she splutters.

Yet the same cannot be said for Fadl and Zainab, the rift between whom but deepens due to a different kind of heavenly intervention. As Yassamin deserves a rest, Jaffar sets out for New Lesbos alone, hoping to help Zainab settle her score with Fadl once and for all.

A tale in which the characters, all in their own ways, experience dreams come true. Yassamin has a terrible, prophetic nightmare; Jaffar sets out to exorcise her fears with his unyielding love. Salsabil and Anwar have caliphate-spanning adventures of their own, realising faith can indeed move mountains. Finally, Fadl, Zainab and Lina sort out their love triangle--in a most pleasurable way at that.
With a despairing moan, Yassamin surrenders her terror and her fear unto the all-devouring force of Jaffar's love; soon, he's pinned her to the bed and the bed itself creaks from the blows of his hips as he takes her and he takes her. Still in their nightshirts, they cling to each other, his arms about her as vines; he buried within her, gathering her together as if to say: with this love, do I guard thee; with this flesh do I protect thy flesh; with this body do I protect the fruit of thy womb: that which sprung from thee and me.
And for that, do I love thee, she whispers back, a promise solemn as she melts onto his cleaving unto her. Just as herbs are crushed for medicine, so does Jaffar the alchemist now work her sorrow into sweetness: his love the fire, their bodies the alembic.

Three years have passed, and her fairytale with Ahmad is coming to an end. Once word arrives that Jaffar is dying, she knows she cannot remain in Baghdad a day longer.
She has to make amends, yet little does she know of the entire new life that awaits her in Samarkand: the life of a woman cherished, respected, loved. Yet that all of this should await her in the arms of Jaffar, the beast she had been so terrified of? Perhaps--if only she can grow out of her own fear and her anguish, and brave the embrace of the dark sorcerer she had once hated with all her heart.

The continent of Orobia offers visitors two things aplenty: sand and stories. In ancient times, dragons and genies waged war against each other over a hybrid of the two races. She was punished by mankind for her existence causing pain by being sealed away, her sacred treasure destroyed. Approximately 5,000 years afterwards, the continent may need this hybrid and her treasure again.
When a peace summit between the nations of Orobia and their neighbor across the northern sea, the Argelian Empire, fails and ends with five Orobian Queens dead, war is declared. Five years after that, Northern Orobia is on the verge of defeat. The only hope may come from a political marriage between the southern nations of Poswa and Cruibia... and if that doesn't work, an alliance of unlikely allies digging into dark secrets, exploring a beautiful and strange world, and employing tactics and magic to retake Orobia or die trying.
Hopefully not the latter.

"Sit down," Jaffar whispers and smacks Fadl on the arse, taking his own advice on one of the marble benches lining the pool. "You're not exactly being inconspicuous."
"Neither are you," Fadl groans. "You haven't stopped posing since we came here!" he grumbles and pokes Jaffar with an elbow as he catches him making eyes at yet another man. "What's gone into you, you madman? Are you in heat?!"
"Perhaps, brother mine, perhaps," Jaffar purrs and sprawls against the back of the bench. He leans on his elbows and tilts his head against the wall a coquette, letting his freshly-oiled hair tumble onto his neck and shoulders as he lounges there. The length of his legs allows him to spread them in blatant offering, his towel--if you can call it that--of thin white cotton revealing more than it hides.
