Summary
Their roles had never become an issue in their relationship, with the exception of their efforts to keep their private life, well, private. They had said from the outset, when they decided to make a real go of it, that it would never work if their relationship interfered with the Inquisition as a whole. During war councils, she was the Inquisitor, and he the Commander. There would be no favouritism skewed in favour of his advice on her part, and no expectation on his part that she would follow his advice simply because they shared a bed - and when they left the war room, that was that. Their professional disagreements, when they had them, never soured their personal relationship. Until that day.
-
Cullen lets his temper best him during a war council, takes it out on Evelyn, and regrets it immediately. But there's no taking back words once they've already been said.
