Fingers, Tongues, and Inkwells
A new man has been attending Les Amis meetings but not only does he not contribute to discussions but he seems determined to brush Enjolras off when he tries to talk to him. No one has yet heard him say so much as a word.
When Grantaire does start speaking it is not at all what Enjolras expected.
- Part 1 of Fingers, Tongues, and Inkwells
Grantaire's life is a juxtaposition, full of sound and silence, wit and short-comings. Filled with words and yet mute, Grantaire frequently finds himself as a spectator, unable or unwilling to join into the little dramas being acted out before his eyes.
So when he meets a man with a voice like fire, it's hardly a surprise that he finds himself frozen, unable to look away from the blinding glory that is Enjolras. Such is the way of his life.
