What's Left of Kisses
25 Mar 2019
Bucky Barnes, history teacher and sometimes Human Disaster, has absolutely no major expectations of his class trip to the National Museum of American History.
But, a chance run-in with Steve Rogers irrevocably changes the course of his life.
Steve loves his teammates - especially the Maximoff twins, whom Tony has dubbed Steve's "freaky ducklings" - but it's not until he stumbles across a shy, handsome man in the Howling Commandos' exhibit that he realizes what's been missing in his life.
(And when Steve falls, he falls hard - and for always).

Bucky Barnes always assumed he'd live a fairly normal life. He's a history teacher after all, a normal guy from Brooklyn with a passion for the arts and humanities, who wants to share that passion with a new generation. A chance encounter with Steve Rogers uproots that normal life, however, and sends Bucky on a very different path than the one he'd always imagined.
Things tend to get complicated when you date Steve Rogers, living legend, Actual Hero; after spending some time in Hydra captivity, Bucky's faced with a long road to recovery. With the support of his loving boyfriend and the friends he's made in the Avengers, however, Bucky might come to realize that maybe, just maybe, he was made to be a hero, too.

It's a normal life, and a happy one, for Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. Sure, it's been raining cats and dogs for weeks on end, and those cats and dogs have been raining sideways, but that has very little to do with their quiet, happy, normal life.
Steve Rogers, freshly retired and happily settled down, doesn't want to be brought back into any Avengers or SHIELD nonsense, but when Nicholas Fury approaches him one day in the middle of an inexplicable weather phenomenon, the nature of a certain 'cosmic issue' turns out to be a little too personal for him to ignore.
(AKA the one where Endgame!Steve travels to a different dimension with the stones and bumps into a happy, retired version of himself and then questions his decisions post-snap).
