Better Than Fiction
02 May 2018
Midoriya Izuku and Todoroki Shouto are a lot of things: Pro heroes, housemates, and secretly in love with one another (not that they’d admit that.) They’re also shipped together by hero fans everywhere.
Izuku didn’t mean to stumble across the Tododeku fandom online. Nor did he mean to start reading and writing fanfiction about it. And he definitely didn’t plan to be the most popular author of the fandom, Mighty_smash.
Shouto didn’t mean to start getting obsessed with Mighty_smash’s stories. Really, he didn’t. But this Mighty person had really good characterisation, and Shouto really wanted to know how the stories ended.
After all, if they couldn’t have each other in real life, then at least Izuku and Shouto could have fictional versions of themselves that did.

Shouto didn’t mean to chase the villain into the cute florist’s shop. Really, he didn’t. Unfortunately, though, the shop’s front window was smashed in, and most of the plants were either burnt or frozen.
The green haired florist just gaped at him, his eyes flicking from Shouto to the groaning villain on the ground. “What?”
That was a fair question, considering Shouto had just destroyed half of his shop.

“Does this look right to you?”
Izuku peered at the dish Shouto was making for dinner. “I—I think so?”
“You said your Mother makes this all the time, right?” Shouto asked.
“Yeah, but that doesn’t mean I know how to do it. Mum did all the cooking before I moved out, not me.”
“Maybe it needs more heat,” Shouto said, and then he lighted his hand on fire. “I’ll just—”
Or: Shouto and Izuku fail at feeding themselves.

The words appeared on his hand: I love you.
Izuku smiled at the message from his soulmate. He always seemed to know exactly when Izuku needed cheering up or encouragement.
Or: A story of growing up with a soulmate you've never met.
